Medicine is an ever changing field. As physicians, we learn and experience new things every single day. This dynamic aspect of my career means I am constantly expanding my knowledge by attending conferences and viewing how other Facial Plastic Surgeons “do it”.

Curious about OTOPLASTY?

This amazing patient was bothered not only by the appearance of his ears but by how they fit under hats. We embarked on an otoplasty journey together and he is thrilled with his results at only 1 week.
▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️
Prominent ears occur because of malformations of the ear cartilage. The two most common malformations are absence of the antihelical fold and overgrowth of the conceal cartilage. This patient had both issues. By removing some cartilage and reshaping some with sutures, the ear shape is able to be permanently changed. All incisions are hidden on the back part of the ear.

As everyone in medicine knows July 1 marks the beginning of the academic year. Having been on my journey in medicine for the past 15 years, July 1 is always an exciting and nerve wracking day. It marks a period of transition from medical student to Otolaryngology resident to Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellow to a double board certified Facial Plastic Surgeon.

It was a great privilege this year to add a promotion to Clinical ASSOCIATE Professor to my credentials. After discussion we decided on lip filler and she is thrilled with the subtle but obvious improvement.
