We're honored to welcome our own resident and author Carol Allen as she shares the remarkable journey behind writing the biography of legendary New Orleans chef Leah Chase. Carol will discuss her personal experiences getting to know Leah and her family, the stories that shaped Leah’s extraordinary legacy, and the creation of a special biography for young adult readers.
Discover the friendship, determination, and cultural impact of one of New Orleans’ most beloved icons, and hear firsthand from the author who helped bring her story to life.

We had some very special helpers visit us this week!
The Academy of the Sacred Heart, girls hopped on over to Laurel to help prepare Easter baskets for of residents.
With lots of smiles and festive spirit, they worked together to make sure every basket is ready for the Easter Bunny’s big delivery on Sunday morning.

Tea in fine china cups and delicious desserts made for a truly lovely Easter Bonnet Tea! 🌸☕

Our ladies—and gents—showed off their beautiful handmade bonnets, each one more creative than the last. A special congratulations to Sherry, who took home the golden chocolate bunny with her stunning green hydrangea design and polka dot bow!

And we can’t forget Nurse Todd, who went all out with his imaginative Peeps bonnet!

The afternoon was made even sweeter with a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny, bringing smiles and laughter to all.

What a wonderful way to celebrate together! 🌷🐣

☘️ The luck of the Irish was with our residents!

We had such a fun time at the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and we didn’t even have to go far — the parade rolled right by just a block away from The Laurel!

Our residents enjoyed all the excitement, with plenty of kisses and flowers from the men’s walking clubs, lots of smiles, and of course… cabbages! 🥬
