Yeah if you’re my client chances are you’ve been a victim of this at some point. And I’m sorry about that! Sometimes I just start a sentence and hope I find it along the way and most of the time that works beautifully but sometimes it doesn’t ☹️

Just know that I know when it happens and it unfortunately does haunt me forever and I wake up in a cold sweat at 3am thinking about it. It’s fine!😅

If your baby spent time in the NICU and you're home now but your nervous system hasn't caught up quite yet...

If birth left you with more than you bargained for, and parts of it still show up when you least expect it...

If you became parents and somehow felt further apart instead of closer, and you're both too tired to know how to fix it...

You're exactly who Franki wants to work with. Couples and families sorting through postpartum disconnect, birth trauma, and life after the NICU — the stuff that's hard to explain to people who weren't there and haven't lived through it.

She's trained in Gottman Method, which focuses less on figuring out who is RIGHT and more on helping couples communicate, repair conflict, maintain friendship, and feel emotionally connected. And she's trained in EMDR, which is one of the best tools we have for actually processing trauma, so you don't have to white knuckle through it anymore.

And before she was a therapist? She was a doula. So she’s been in *the room where it happens*

She's taking new clients right now. Email [email protected] to schedule.

Not sure about anyone else, but our timeline needs some comedic relief. Here’s a silly little palate cleanser for you if, like us, you’re being pushed some pretty serious stuff about the postpartum season.

And just a reminder that although very important and necessary conversations are being had about maternal mental health right now, it’s not just okay to take a break from distressing content, it’s necessary.

Okay that’s all! Btw our website underwent some construction that makes it even EASIER to schedule a free 15 minute consult with us! Check it out if you want, if nothing more than to appreciate the 17278 hours it took Ashley to figure out how to be able to add a scheduling feature directly from the site 😅

Some weeks we’re unpacking the super deep stuff. Other weeks it’s a vent sesh and we’re affirming your need for space, silence, and room to be a person outside of a parent. Both conversations are important.

(And by the way, we know you love your kid more than anything. Ya know, the one you called an asshole😂)

Meet Carley Whitney, PLPC!✨

Carley has the uncanny ability to put anyone she meets immediately at ease with her relatability and sense of humor. But that’s not all, Carley can also meet you in the trenches of parenthood and sit with you there. She’s the ideal therapist for someone who wants some tough love and accountability from someone who’s compassionate and truly cares and sees them. Carley’s clients love her and we think you would, too🫶🏼

The Lindsay Clancy case has been everywhere in recent news and media. It’s disturbing at its baseline, but we’ve seen a recent uptick in distress for our clients with PP OCD (and really anxiety and depression, too). The question at the core of it all: could I end up just like her? Doing what she did?

We get asked the question sometimes…is seeing someone with a perinatal specialty actually necessary to diagnose and treat perinatal mood and anxiety disorders? We hope it’s clear now, that yes, it matters very much. It matters because when you ask for help, you deserve someone who knows what questions to ask. How to get you resources and medication that work. How to loop in family members for additional support and information. It can literally be the difference between prevention and/or treatment, and a psychiatric emergency.

To those struggling a little extra right now- you can turn the news off or keep scrolling. You don’t have to keep feeding the intrusive thoughts. Reach out for help. If your provider doesn’t ask follow up questions with real curiosity, or they write you off, get a second opinion ASAP. It’s okay to bring a partner or family members with you to your appointment.

Our team is so happy to finally be able to introduce our partnership with Ochsner Baptist on a pilot program called OB-CARES: Cultivating Awareness, Resources, and Empathy in Obstetrics.

We’ve been steadily building this program from the ground up since last October, when we met with the Maternal Fetal Medicine team for the first time. It became so apparent to us that there’s a huge gap in taking care of the people who care for so many in our community at the hardest point in their lives.

Our mission is to create a space for reflection, connection, processing, and practical tools so obstetric providers can continue doing this meaningful work without carrying the emotional weight of it alone.

Over the next year, we will work directly with the MFM faculty and resident physicians- high risk obstetricians who see the toughest cases and have too many unexpected and adverse outcomes- to help ease the burden of the second victim experiences they’re a part of on a regular basis. Data will be gathered throughout the year that will (hopefully) be published in a paper with Ochsner on the impact that a formal, structured mental health program can have on preventing burnout and vicarious trauma in obstetrics.

We are honored to be doing this work with this group of providers. They are superheroes in our eyes! Big thank you to their team for entrusting us with their care.
