Why We Keep Salt Lamps in Every Massage Room

If you’ve ever had a massage at Crescent City Massage, you’ve probably noticed the warm, beautiful glow of our Himalayan salt lamps.

We love salt lamps because they help create the cozy, peaceful atmosphere we want you to experience from the moment you walk into the room. The soft amber light is much gentler than bright overhead lighting and helps our treatment rooms feel warm, quiet, and inviting.

A few of our favorite benefits:

Creates a calming atmosphere - That soft, warm glow instantly makes the room feel more relaxing and peaceful.

Gentle lighting for relaxation - We intentionally keep our treatment rooms softly lit so your eyes and nervous system can settle in while you prepare for your massage.

Adds warmth and ambiance - There’s something about the natural glow of a salt lamp that makes a massage room feel extra cozy.

A beautiful natural element - Each salt lamp has its own unique color, shape, and texture, adding a little touch of nature to our space.

Helps create a relaxing ritual - We want your experience to feel different from the moment you walk through our doors. The lighting, music, aromas, warm linens, and little details all work together to create an environment where you can slow down and focus on yourself.

Because sometimes relaxation starts before the massage even begins.

Come experience the glow for yourself.

Before we begin your massage, we like to make a little space for relaxation.

Did you know that our therapists can use smudge sticks as part of a smudging ritual before your massage begins?

For us, it's a simple way to create a transition from the outside world into your time here.

The ritual is intended to clear away stagnant energy and make room for relaxation, peace, and relief.

Because sometimes you don't just walk into a massage carrying tension in your shoulders.

You walk in carrying the long day.
The endless to-do list.
The stress from work.
The things you've been thinking about all week.

Our hope is that when you step through our doors, you can begin to leave some of that behind.

A little less noise.
A little more stillness.
A little more space to simply breathe.

And then…your massage begins.

Add this relaxing ritual to your next massage and we'll take care of the rest.

Why Hot Stones Can Help Ease Muscle Tension

Sometimes your muscles don't need more pressure. They need a little heat.

There's something about the warmth of hot stones that makes your whole body exhale.

During a hot stone massage, heated stones are incorporated into the massage to provide soothing warmth to the muscles. That heat can help muscles soften and relax, making it easier for your therapist to work with areas of tension without relying solely on deep pressure.

And that's one of the reasons we love them.

🔥 Warmth helps create a sense of relaxation
🔥 Relaxed muscles can be easier to work with
🔥 The combination of heat and massage can feel especially soothing on areas holding tension
🔥 And let's be honest…there's something wonderfully cozy about being wrapped up in warmth while someone takes care of you.

Hot stones are especially lovely when you're feeling stressed, tense, or simply overdue for some serious self-care.

Think of it as massage + warmth + relaxation all in one.

Your muscles might not know what day it is afterward, but they will probably be very happy.

Deep tissue massage: the good, the bad, and the “okay, I needed that”

Deep tissue massage can be an amazing way to work with stubborn areas of muscle tension, especially when you feel like a lighter massage just isn’t getting to the spots that need attention.

The good:
Deep tissue work can help reduce muscle tension, improve mobility, increase circulation to the tissues being worked, and leave you feeling more relaxed and comfortable in your body.

The not-so-good:
Deeper does not always mean better. You may feel some tenderness during or after a deep tissue massage, especially if your muscles are particularly tight. But a massage shouldn't feel unbearably painful. If you're holding your breath, tensing up, or counting down the minutes until it's over…we're probably going too deep!

The best deep tissue massage is intentional and individualized. Our therapists work with your body-not against it-to find the right amount of pressure for you.

Sometimes your body needs deep work. Sometimes it needs something gentler. And if you're not sure what you need, don't worry. We'll help you figure out what your muscles are asking for.
