From March through July 2026, our Hep C team continued their efforts to connect people to Hepatitis C testing, treatment, and care. Here's where we are so far:

✔️ 101 clients served
✔️ 28 negative Hep C tests
✔️ 74 clients actively in treatment and participating in our Hep C study
🎉 3 individuals cured! (SVR-4)

Every person who gets tested, starts treatment, or reaches a cure is a step toward eliminating Hepatitis C in our community 🩺⭐ We're excited to continue this important work and help even more people access the care they need!

What is a community health worker? Community Health Workers (CHW) are the frontline health workers who usually have a significant understanding of the community they are serving.

CHWs:

What is a case manager? 🧐 A case manager helps clients determine their needs, coordinate care, and access healthcare and social services.

Case managers:

Let's talk about STIs. 🩺 Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are common, and many don't cause noticeable symptoms. The only way to know your status is through regular testing.

Protect yourself by:
✔️ Using condoms consistently and correctly
✔️ Getting tested regularly

Ever heard of John Snow? (Not that one.)
Dr. John Snow was a physician whose work during the 1854 cholera outbreak changed public health forever. By mapping where people were getting sick, he discovered that contaminated water was the source of the outbreak. That discovery helped stop the spread of the disease and changed how we investigate outbreaks.

Today, epidemiologists still use the same basic approach. With tools like Geographic Information Systems (GIS), they can map outbreaks, identify patterns, and track sources of infection to help protect communities. Dr. Snow's work laid the foundation for many of the public health practices we rely on today.
