Reframing the Discourse on Race: Increasing harmony by moving beyond Critical Social Justice Theory.
https://youtu.be/pD-4HiNrcs0
“Mental health professions and Western societies have embraced Critical Social Justice Theory as the primary paradigm to address systemic racism. This Neo-Marxist model creates a dangerous type of psychological splitting (All Good/All Bad) in dividing people into either Oppressors or Oppressed. The presenters will use their personal experiences and friendship of over two decades to illustrate the problems with this flawed model that is obsessed with power dynamics. Ken Wilber’s model of the evolution of human consciousness will be presented as a metamodel to create new frames to reduce systemic racism. The presenters will challenge the audience to move beyond Critical Social Justice Theory, to include models that are more complex, global, relational, collaborative, inspirational, and interdisciplinary.
