Congratulations Chris Sand-Ashley! For over 30 years, you have nurtured the needs of your clients and touched countless lives. May your retirement be an opportunity for you to nurture you and to fill your retirement with all the joy and fullness that you have always embraced in your life.

It is really hard to know where to begin when you are saying goodbye to an amazing colleague and trusted friend. But here goes…

Over 30 years ago, Tuscarawas County had few options for counseling. So, with your faith alone and a few insurance forms, off you went to open this practice as the founder of Chrysalis. And thanks to Ginny Sand, your mom, the name Chrysalis Counseling Center was born. From December 1994 until now, it has been quite a journey. From Chrysalis‘s humble two room beginning to moving to an office built just for us in 2009, to now, there have been many challenges and many joys. But because of your courage and your willingness to take a leap of faith, thousands of individuals and families in our community have been served. So, with mixed emotions about saying goodbye but with gratitude for having collaborated with you for all of these years, we all want to say goodbye and good luck, Chris.

My name is Chris Sand-Ashley and I have made the emotionally complex decision to retire from being a therapist. I love being a therapist, and I am so thankful for my career as a teacher, author in professional journals, therapist, and supervisor. It is particularly hard to leave Chrysalis Counseling Center since I was a founder in 1994. Chrysalis is such a special place where clients are met with respect and a commitment to help them heal.

I want to thank the community for supporting Chrysalis so that we could grow and thrive. I will miss my clients deeply for many reasons. It is such an honor to learn from them, offer a safe space for them, and support their commitment to heal and feel whole. I will also miss my coworkers who welcome everyone who walks through the door and commit themselves to growing, learning and supporting each other in this very special role.

Thank you from the depth of my heart to all of you that you have shared your journey with me. What a profound privilege. Thank you to everyone along the way who have enriched this incredible journey.

Chrysalis Counseling Center Annual Christmas Party 2025 ♥️💚

Due to the severe winter storm and hectic holiday schedules, we were missing quite a few members of our team. But, those of us who were able to attend enjoyed fellowship, a delicious meal, gift exchange and time together to celebrate another year of providing vital mental health services to our wonderful community.
