In celebration of B Kinder Day, residents of United Hebrew’s Willow Towers Assisted Living community came together with a shared purpose: spreading kindness beyond our walls and into the community.

Inspired by the legacy of young Billie Kinder and the spirit of compassion, empathy, and service, residents spent the day preparing meals for the HOPE Community Services food pantry. Working side by side with smiles and generous hearts, they assembled nutritious meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Together, they aim to prepare at least 120 meals—turning a simple act of service into a meaningful expression of care for our neighbors in need.

We believe kindness has no age limit. These moments not only support our community but also give residents opportunities to connect, contribute, and experience the joy of giving back. Research shows that acts of kindness can boost emotional well-being, foster purpose, and strengthen social connection—benefits clearly reflected throughout the day.

As we celebrate B Kinder Day, we’re reminded that even the smallest act of kindness can create a ripple effect of hope. Thank you to our residents, team members, and community partners who made this project possible.

Last week, we celebrated the opening of United Hebrew's new Dialysis Center—a significant step forward in bringing compassionate, comprehensive care directly to those who need it most.For many seniors, traveling to dialysis treatments multiple times each week can be physically and emotionally challenging. This new center allows residents to receive essential care in a familiar, supportive environment without disrupting their daily lives.

On June 10, Rita C. Mabli received the Distinguished Service Award from the New York Chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators, and it could not have gone to a more deserving person.

Rita joined United Hebrew in 1976 and dedicated her entire career to the organization, becoming CEO in 1994 and President in 2007, the first woman to hold either role. She now continues her impact as Senior Advisor.

The evening benefitted the Sister Joan Cassidy and Michael Cuseo Cultural Diversity Endowment. Serving as Master of Ceremonies, United Hebrew President and CEO Mark Sanchez had the honor of presenting Rita with the award, making the moment all the more meaningful for our organization.
