Two people can experience the exact same situation and walk away with completely different feelings about it. In this image, both individuals are on the same beach, in the same weather, building the same type of sandcastle, and doing the same activity. The only thing that differs is how they are interpreting the experience. One person sees an opportunity for creativity, fun, and enjoyment. The other sees boredom, frustration, or something they would rather not be doing. The event itself is neutral. What changes the emotional experience is the meaning each person gives to the event. This does not mean emotions are not real or important. It means our thoughts, expectations, beliefs, and interpretations play a powerful role in shaping how we experience the world around us. Two people can live through the same moment and experience two very different realities. Sometimes changing our circumstances helps. Other times, changing our perspective changes everything.

☀️ Summer break is here, but that doesn’t always mean less stress.

For many parents and caregivers, summer brings a major shift in routine. Between balancing work responsibilities, childcare, household tasks, family activities, and trying to find a moment for yourself, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and stretched thin.

If you're feeling like you're constantly "on," you're not alone.

Remember: your worth is not measured by how much you accomplish in a day. Your emotional well-being deserves attention too. Giving yourself grace, setting realistic expectations, and taking small moments to recharge can make a meaningful difference during this busy season.

Ask yourself:
💭 Have I checked in with my own needs today?
💭 Am I giving myself the same compassion I give to others?
💭 What is one small thing I can do this week to support my mental health?

If the demands of summer are impacting your stress, anxiety, mood, relationships, or overall well-being, support is available. Alssaro Counseling Services offers flexible in-person and telehealth appointments to help you navigate life's transitions with confidence and support.

🦊 How often do you spend time at the top of your Autonomic Ladder?

Our nervous system moves through different states throughout the day.
💚 Ventral Vagal: Safe, calm, connected, present, and engaged.
🧡 Sympathetic: Fight-or-flight mode. Anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, irritable, or always "on."
💙 Dorsal Vagal: Shutdown mode. Exhausted, disconnected, numb, withdrawn, or stuck.

The goal isn't to stay at the top all the time. The goal is to recognize where you are and develop the ability to return to a state of safety and connection when life pulls you away.

👇 Check in with yourself:

How often do you feel calm, connected, and present during your day?
🔹 Most of the day
🔹 About half the day
🔹 Occasionally
🔹 Rarely

Awareness is the first step toward regulation.

Some people become the one everyone depends on.
The problem is, over time, constantly carrying the pressure of work, family, finances, relationships, and everyone else’s needs can quietly drain you.

Overfunctioning often gets praised as strength.
But behind the scenes, it can lead to exhaustion, resentment, emotional shutdown, anxiety, and burnout.

You were never meant to carry everything alone.

Taking care of yourself is not weakness. Rest is not laziness. Asking for support does not make you less capable.

If this feels familiar, it may be time to stop surviving on empty and start checking in with yourself too.

At Alssaro Counseling Services, we help individuals, couples, and families navigate stress, burnout, anxiety, relationships, and emotional overwhelm.

Parenting teens can feel like whiplash.
One moment, they need you for everything; the next, they push you away like they don’t need you at all.

There are hard conversations, slammed doors, self-doubt, guilt, laughter, pride, and moments that break your heart and heal it at the same time.

The truth is, there is no perfect way to parent a teenager. Most parents are learning as they go, trying to balance boundaries with connection, discipline with understanding, and letting go while still holding on.

If you’re showing up, trying again, loving them through the difficult moments, and staying present even when it’s messy, you’re doing more right than you think. ❤️

At Alssaro Counseling Services, we support parents, teens, and families through the emotional ups and downs that come with growing together. You do not have to navigate it alone.

“Why me?” and “What if I fail?” are often closer than people realize.

One side waits to be rescued.
The other is terrified to try.

Both can keep a person stuck.

Sometimes the victim mindset is not laziness or weakness. Sometimes it is fear, disappointment, shame, anxiety, exhaustion, or years of feeling powerless. And sometimes fear of failure becomes so overwhelming that staying stuck starts to feel safer than risking change.

Healing begins when we stop waiting for certainty, rescue, or permission and start taking small steps forward anyway.

You do not need to have everything figured out to move forward. You just need the willingness to take the next step.

At Alssaro Counseling Services, we help individuals work through anxiety, fear, emotional overwhelm, self-doubt, trauma, and unhealthy patterns that keep them feeling stuck. You do not have to navigate it alone.

Being a mom can look like strength one minute and survival the next.

The smiles, the exhaustion, the worry, the patience, the guilt, the pride, the love… all of it counts. Motherhood isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up, even on the days you feel like you have nothing left to give.

To every mom silently carrying the weight of everyone else while trying not to fall apart yourself, you are seen. 💛

You do not have to pour from an empty cup. Support matters. Rest matters. You matter.

If motherhood has been affecting your mental health, stress levels, relationships, or sense of self, reaching out for support is not a weakness; it is a strength.

At Alssaro Counseling Services, we’re here to support moms through every version of motherhood. Reach out today to begin your healing journey.
