2 of my regular clients in today for a rebraid on their deluxe manes: Norman, the draftie; and Joké the Fresian.

Buddy has really been suffering from this heat during his weekly lesson schedule.

He signed up for a full body clip for some much needed relief.

PSA
Summertime in Fla is hot & humid. This makes it challenging for horses to cool themselves down by sweating along (nevermind the non-sweaters).

Cold-hosing your horse daily is the #1 way you can help keep them cool. 💦

If you can’t get out to the barn, get someone to do it for you. 😎

Trade out with a barn buddy. 👯‍♂️

Or hire someone. 🙋‍♀️ I’m available at Innovation Arabians, and in the Tomoka Farms Village area.

Meet “Norman”
The Gentle Giant

With all the busy-ness of back-to-school preparations Norman was added to my grooming service to maintain his long, thick mane & tail plus weekly baths for his itchy summer skin.

Thank you, Crystal, for entrusting him in our care.

🧇 Meet Waffles 🧇

Waffles is a recip mare we have on the farm this breeding season carrying someone’s “Dream Horse.”

A recip mare carries a foal to term for another mare who has been bred with a chosen stallion. This allows the mare who is the momma to stay in work during show season among other reasons.

Most brood mares live out in a large pasture together while they’re growing those babies in their tummy.

It’s good practice to bring them in for overall skin and condition check, feet, diet, etc.

Dapple Bay Equine donated a Deluxe grooming, dematting, and bubble bath to get this girl looking and feeling her best.

I got my first “unfavorable” review. ☹️👎

We’ve been having major thunder storm rain gushers every day at high noon here in central Fla. ⛈️☔️

This pushed back Clemmy’s start time for her weekly scheduled Deluxe Bubble Bath + Mane&Tail reset.

Well, when the Kubota feed cart came through the barn isles, Clemmy was non too pleased that she was missing dinner. 🤣

Her forelock braid may be a little crooked. I’ll work on my timing. ⏱️

Clementine Service
💠Remove braids and finger comb through
💠then to the wash rack
💠Initial hosing to wet the body, feathers (full of mud/dirt), tail, mane, feathers again, tail again
💠Suds up tail with shampoo
💠Suds up mane with shampoo
💠Suds up each leg’s feathers - this is the most time consuming
💠checking for hyperkeratinosis, scratches, and keratin plaques to remove
💠Suds body with a tiger tongue sponge combo and a bucket of shampoo sudsy water concentrating on all the white skinned areas
💠Rinse thick tail thoroughly until water runs clear
💠Apply conditioner and finger comb through until every strand is coated
💠Rinse mane especially at the roots until water runs clear
💠Apply conditioner and finger comb through until all strands are well coated
💠Rinse all 4 feathers until water rinse clear (again, most time consuming part)
💠Apply conditioner to the overlaying long, silky feathers on top
💠Let conditioner “dwell” for at least 10-min
💠Sponge bathe the body again with bucket of shampoo suds
💠Rinse loosened dirt, hair and suds from body this the “flat” setting on spray nozzle used as a squeegee (this process takes time with all of her white)
💠Rinse mane until water runs clear
💠Rinse all 4 feathers until water rinse clear
💠Rinse tail thoroughly until water runs clear
💠Then to a grooming bay with 3 high velocity fans to assist with drying
💠Once dry, I use “The Pink Stuff” hair moisturizer on her body coat, mane and tail, brushing through with a brush
💠Rebraid mane in short running braids
💠Braid tail and re-bag

⁉️If you think your horse would benefit from a weekly Deluxe Bubble Bath, text or DM me and we’ll get you on the schedule…avoiding dinner time of course. 🤩

“SKID MARK” is a retired reining horse who has the distinct pleasure of living out his retirement years in Florida.

His family took a 1-week vacation out of state and put him on my grooming service to ensure he continued to receive the care he deserves while they are gone.

Skid loves his turnout time, belly scratches and his big a$$ fan. 🤣

Let’s further our conversation on Healing Modalities.

My mare, Marie Louiz, is a well decorated half-Arabian from the Arabian Main Ring in Hunter Pleasure. She is 16 years old and we have been together for almost 2 years.

We clicked right off the bat, like peas & carrots.

We have grown so much together. And the single most important way I can support her longevity is with all the supplemental healing modalities available today.

The two most impactful interventions that I have found to support her comfort and longevity are chiropractic adjustments and PEMF sessions.

Luckily, we have Caylee Lane as resident trainer in our barn at Innovation.

When Caylee works with Marie Louiz, she is able to support her in releasing tension that she holds in her body.

She is a “sensitive and suspicious” mare which lends to her holding tension in her body.

Thanks to Caylee and our regularly scheduled sessions Marie Louiz is able to work and perform at her best.
