Shop Foreman, Sean, Shop/Driver, Brandon, with their families and extended family visited the Wreaths Across America Headquarters in Maine as part of their family vacation a few weeks ago. Linda Wareheim, their grandmother joined them on the trip. Miss Linda assists with conducting the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony every year along side Stephanie Myers at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Taneytown.

Tammy organized a tour for the group and arranged for two dog tags be created that have special meaning to Linda and the entire family. These dog tags continue our tradition to add dog tags to our dedicated tree at the tip lands.

The tip lands are where families and friends place dog tags on the evergreens that grow to create the wreaths. On a quiet day you can hear the tags chiming in the breeze which is a beautiful remembrance of the fallen heroes.

-- Sgt. Kenneth Clem - served in the Army, WWII. He was Linda's father/Sean and Brandon's Great Grandfather

-- Cpl. Ray Copenhaver- served in the Army, Korea. Ray was instrumental in working with us to get Mt. Pleasant Church as one of our approved Wreaths Across America cemeteries.

Each year we will continue the tradition of adding to our Carroll County remembrance tree in Maine. Next group will be hung early December when Charlie of Battlefield Transport picks up our wreaths early December. 🇺🇸

During the The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall event last year, Vietnam Veteran, Clark Beall, was one of our speakers, a Marine with boots on the ground. He was interviewed on Friday and the interview will air tonight on WMAR-2 News Baltimore at 6, 7 and 11. His interview will cover his time in country and the effects of Agent Orange. We are proud of Clark for continuing to create awareness and for his courage to fight the fight long after returning home. Thank you Clark and Cyera for creating awareness and ensuring that our veterans are not forgotten and that support with benefits or an ear to listen is always available. 🇺🇸

Today marks the first day Agent Orange was used in Vietnam. Today is a day to remember those who have passed and their families who were with them through the battle and those still fighting the effects from their exposure to this herbicide. Vietnam Veterans are encouraged to stop by their local agency to seek the benefits they deserve.

During the The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall last year, visitors stopped by the many exhibits with the Agent Orange exhibit being a highly attended exhibit.

An extension to last years' event is the October Agent Orange Monument Unveiling and Pinning on Sunday, October 18th (rain date Sunday, October 25th). October is Agent Orange Awareness Month. Veteran resources will be on site at this event for Vietnam Veterans to begin conversations on their deserved disability benefits.

We have a POC in Jordan. They are dealing with the loss of everything and 3 KIA. 😭 The 2nd POC is in a unit that was attacked in Dubai. Both of these units lost EVERYTHING.

Time is of the essence! ⏳ We are sending the first wave of packages on Saturday, August 1 and a second wave on Saturday, August 8. Additional shipments TBD as needed.

These are serious times and it is important for all of us back home to give to those who are downrange and LITERALLY under fire. Your support is greatly appreciated. No one needs to go bankrupt giving for the troops. Do what you can. EVERY donation is important. 🤗

We always say, "If we all give a little, together we give a LOT!"

We had a few BDUs given to us recently. Huge thanks to Elinore Frush for creating tote bags and book marks from them. These totes and book marks will be given to patients at the Martinsburg VA in the future. The book marks will also be given out at events we attend in the future. The scraps will be held to make Honor Bulbs.🇺🇸

Late this spring, we hosted the winners of our essay and art contests from The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. The theme was the Weight of the Names".

Congratulations to the following winners.

Essay: Milada, Grade 7, Oklahoma Road Middle School
Art: Ella's, Grade 8, North West Middle School

These middle school students rose to the challenge with maturity beyond their years. Their work carried emotion and respect for the over 58,000 hereos whose names are on the Wall.

A committe of veterans including Vietnam Veterans joined us in the judging. They absorbed every word, interpreted every painting and drawing. Every feeling poured into the submissions. When the winners personly presented their work, they were profoundly moved. They shared stories, shook hands and expressed how much it meant to see the next generation care so deeply.

Patriotism shined bright in that room. The talent, heart and sincerity these students showed was nothing short of impactful. It was incredible to witness. 🇺🇸

Thank you to every student who participated. You poured your hearts into honoring the over 58,000 heroes whose names remind us of the sacrifice, courage and the cost of freedom. You honored them well.

We are honored to create the first monument in the State of Maryland remembering those affected by their exposure to Agent Orange. We will be unveiling the monument on October 18th at the New Windsor Fire and Hose Company #1 in New Windsor MD as well as hosting a special Agent Orange Pinning. We heard from many Vietnam Veterans and their families during The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall last October that not only honoring their duty but remembering their sacrifice is important. This monument serves that need. The shape of the monument is deeply symbolic.

Vietnam Veterans who have at least one of the conditions associated with their exposure to Agent Orange is invited to receive a special pin. Families who lost their veteran loved one can accept the pin posthumously. One pin per family. An application is required to receive this pin.

We invite the community to witness this moment, a month that is dedicated to Agent Orange Awareness. Let's come together for the Vietnam Veterans and their families and surround them with outpouring gratitude.
