How can artificial intelligence support the future of dialysis care?

In this Research Spotlight, Hanjie Zhang of the Renal Research Institute shares insights from the newly published open-access chapter, “Artificial Intelligence in Dialysis,” co-authored with Peter Kotanko and Len Usvyat

The chapter explores how AI may support dialysis care through applications such as hospitalization and mortality prediction, intradialytic complication monitoring, anemia management, vascular access assessment, imaging, workflow optimization, and patient engagement.

In this 2-minute video, Hanjie discusses the promise of AI in dialysis while also highlighting the work still needed to translate retrospective results into trusted, validated, and integrated clinical tools.
