My father, my mentor, my friend. You are the reason I stepped into holistic and alternative medicine just one week after you passed. In my hardest moments, when I feel like I can’t go on, it’s your strength that pushes me forward. You are the reason I chose to help others. Your legacy will live on forever, and your memory will never fade. I love you and miss you deeply. Dr. Jairo Casas, born in Bogotá, Colombia, dedicated his life to healing and compassion. After earning his medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, he built a life of service in Staten Island, New York, practicing medicine for over 30 years in Brooklyn and Queens. A cherished figure in the Latino community, he also served on the Board of Directors at Elmhurst Hospital.
On April 18, 2020, Dr. Casas tragically passed away from COVID-19, a heartbreaking loss felt deeply by all who knew and loved him. Despite his vulnerability due to Lupus, he had returned to the frontlines during the pandemic, showing immense courage and unwavering dedication to his patients.
Beyond his career, Dr. Casas extended his generosity globally, organizing medical donations for disaster relief in Latin America. He shared his knowledge through social media, radio, and his advocacy for natural medicine.
Above all, Dr. Casas cherished being a father and grandfather. His five children and twelve grandchildren carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and community.
Today, we remember Dr. Jairo Casas—not only for the lives he touched and saved but for the warmth and wisdom he brought to everyone around him. His memory remains a source of inspiration, love, and pride for all who continue to honor his legacy.
