Some caregivers spend their weekends on the highway. Some never leave the house. Both are exhausting.

GUIDE can cover up to 80 hours of respite care a year. If you live far away, a care navigator and 24/7 support line help you stay involved. If you live close, you finally get some time back. There's no cost to the family.

Your loved one may qualify if they have Original Medicare, Parts A and B, and a diagnosis of dementia, including Alzheimer's. Medicare Advantage plans don't qualify.

If you're caring for someone with dementia, Medicare may pay up to $2,625 a year for respite care.

The program is called GUIDE. That money covers up to 80 hours of a trained person caring for your loved one while you sleep in, see a friend, or finally make that appointment you keep pushing back. It also comes with a care team and a support line, so you're not figuring all of this out alone.

You may qualify if the person you care for has Original Medicare Parts A and B and a dementia or Alzheimer's diagnosis. We'll check your eligibility and do the paperwork with you.

If you're caring for someone with dementia, including Alzheimer's, and they have Original Medicare (Parts A & B), the GUIDE program may give eligible caregivers $2,625 a year in backup care, which covers up to 80 hours.

If your family already moved a loved one into a nursing home, there's no shame in that. Sometimes it's the right call. But every family deserves to know what help exists first, and most never hear about GUIDE.

GUIDE is a Medicare program for people living with dementia and the family members caring for them. Here's what it can look like for you.

You get a dedicated care navigator who understands dementia, and you can reach support 24/7. That means someone to call when a new behavior shows up at 2 a.m. or a medication change doesn't sit right.

You get help building a care plan and coordinating the doctor visits, medications, and daily needs that pile up fast.

You get caregiver training and support, so you're not learning everything the hard way.

And you get respite care. That's $2,625 a year, which covers up to 80 hours of backup care through an in-home aide or an adult day program. Those hours are for you to rest, run errands, or just sit in your car with the radio on.

To qualify, your loved one needs Original Medicare Parts A and B and a dementia or Alzheimer's diagnosis. If that's your family, you may be able to join at no cost.

Medicare now covers up to 80 hours a year of respite care for families caring for someone with dementia or Alzheimer's. The program is called GUIDE. A trained person steps in so you can rest, run errands, or take care of yourself for once, without worrying about what's happening at home.

To qualify, the person you care for needs Original Medicare Parts A and B and a dementia or Alzheimer's diagnosis. We'll check your eligibility and walk through enrollment with you.

The program is called GUIDE. Medicare launched it in July 2024 for people caring for someone with dementia.

Each family gets a care navigator who builds a care plan around the person's needs and updates it as things change. The navigator also helps find local services like transportation and meal delivery, and there's a 24/7 support line for when something comes up.

GUIDE also covers up to 80 hours a year of respite care, so the caregiver can take a break.
