You’ve likely heard the phrase “love means accepting someone just the way they are” - but what does that actually mean? Turns out, it means being ok with your partner’s personality and values, even if they’re very different from yours. And why is this important in a long-term relationship? Because when we try to change our partners to fit our own preferences, we can end up damaging the relationship instead. We can also end up putting ourselves through unnecessary stress and heartache.

Have you experienced (or are you currently experiencing) what it's like to apply pressure and get met with painful resistance? How did you handle it?

If you decide you can handle your partner's "stuff" if nothing changes, despite their "stuff" going against your preferences, here’s what you do.
➡️ Comment below. What do you think?

Before spending a lifetime with a person, do 2 things
1. Honestly ask yourself: Can I live with this person if NOTHING changes?
2. Then act accordingly🙂

➡️ Let me know in the comments: What types of relationship preferences would you be able to accept without trying to change them?

When I say I want to help calm your mind this is what I mean. Navigating negative thoughts that can take over the day. Sometimes overthinking about a situation turns fluctuates between worry, sadness, frustration and if it gets to be to much it, thoughts can sound like this. If your thoughts have sounded like this, let's assess how to calm your mind.

Background on the clip: It's from my first TV appearance shedding light on signs of depression and ways to combat it. Wanted to highlight here that suicidal thoughts aren’t always obvious. Here’s what they can sound like. If you’ve found yourself or a loved one saying something like this, don’t ignore the words. Check in more!

Thank you to the host of The Next Chapter for having me. Full episode link in my bio.

Ladies, turning your brain off when you get home is tricky! Especially if you're clocking out of your corporate job to clock into your job as wife, girlfriend, mom, chef, maid, chauffeur, teacher, and the list goes on. You know you need a break, but if you actually stopped, something would feel off, or it'd be on your mind because breaks don't remove the responsibility. Tip: Prioritizing and offloading is key, but you may need a "professional friend" as an accountability partner to help you implement and maintain it. Book an appointment & we'll get to work.

I’m Quinelle Hickman, licensed therapist, speaker & corporate wellness facilitator helping professionals & organizations manage stress, boost morale, and reconnect to joy, calm, and sustainable productivity.

Typical Client Complaint:
“My team is anxious because they never know what to expect. They want clearer communication so they can actually do their jobs.”

Why This Happens :
Studies show that poor communication significantly increases workplace anxiety and reduces psychological safety—especially during high-stress periods (American Psychological Association, 2023).

Through experiential leadership labs and communication workshops, we help teams build clarity, emotional intelligence, and trust.Leaders learn how to communicate in ways that calm the room, reduce fear-based reactions, and support healthier team performance.

If your organization is ready for communication that supports—not stresses—your staff, let’s partner. Book a corporate wellness consultation or staff development workshop.
