Fund for Public Health in New York City The Fund for Public Health in New York City incubates innovative public health initiatives to improve health for all.

We work with NYC's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to raise funds for public health programs across the city. Since our founding in 2002, we’ve secured more than $500 million to support over 440 projects that improves the lives of New Yorkers. Thanks to public-private partnerships from philanthropic organizations and individuals, FPHNYC is able to test new, pioneering approaches that transform lives across the city.

Since launching, the Hub has responded to more than 10,400 calls and nearly 5,000 live chats, connecting people with providers, financial assistance, and trusted information. The number of days in NYC with temperatures above 86°F has more than doubled over the last 50 years. As climate change intensifies, we can expect more heat events that put people's lives at risk.

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Heat-Related Mortality Report explores who is most affected by extreme heat, where the greatest risks exist, and how heat-related deaths are changing over time.
