People will not change for you if they don't see a problem with their actions.
You can explain your feelings a thousand different ways.
You can be more diplomatic with your words, more patient, forgiving, understanding, but none of that turns indifference into integrity.
Change doesn’t happen through persuasion, it happens through self-awareness.
People don’t suddenly develop a sense of accountability just because you love them harder, stay longer, or sacrifice more of yourself.
Repeated forgiveness in the absence of accountability isn’t compassion, it’s self-abandonment.
It teaches people that your boundaries are flexible, that your standards are negotiable, and that your pain is something you’ll eventually learn to ignore.
That’s not keeping the peace; that’s making you available for more harm.
When someone shows you how far they’re willing to go at your expense, believe that version of them, not the one you hope they’ll become later on.
Stop giving access where there's no responsibility.
Stop offering grace where there's no remorse.
And don’t keep trying to prove yourself to someone who has already shown you that they’re comfortable with losing you.
Choosing yourself isn’t bitterness nor is it selfish; it’s protecting your standards which look after your emotional well-being, and that is what protects your peace.
Stop giving people second chances when they haven’t even acknowledged or apologised for the damage they caused the first time.
You don't need to drink the entire ocean to realise it's salty...
