The WHO and CDC say to exercise 150 minutes a week. Real life says otherwise.

Here's what most people miss: the guidelines aren't pass/fail. Every bit of movement counts, and the health benefits start well before you hit that 150-minute mark. Three 10-minute walks count. A quick strength session counts. Taking the stairs counts.

I wrote about the real gap between exercise guidelines and real life, and 5 realistic ways to close it without guilt or burnout.

You don't have to do it perfectly. You just have to start.

Cool. Where exactly is that time supposed to come from?

But here's what most people don't know: the CDC also says some movement is always better than none. The goal is accumulation, not perfection.

On the blog this week, exercise guidelines vs. real life, and 5 realistic ways to make it work:

→ Reframe what counts as exercise
→ Stack movement onto what you already do
→ Protect just 2 sessions a week
→ Stop waiting for perfect conditions
→ Get support that meets you where you are

You don't have to do it all. You just have to start. Link in bio ↑ 💚

Change is hard. I get it. 💪🏽

Picture two paths: one is clear and easy — the habit you already know. The other is jungle, and every step forward means swinging a machete through the overgrowth. Some days you've got the energy for that. Some days you set the machete down and take the easy path instead.

Here's the thing people don't expect from a coach: I have those days too. Coaches aren't exempt from the struggle — we're just fighting it in different areas of our own lives.

I used to be a powerlifter. Back then, everything I did was to win — pure extrinsic motivation, driven by something outside myself. Decades later, getting myself to the gym is a whole different fight. I know the facts: between 30-50, we all lose 3-8% of our muscle mass, and after 50 that loss speeds up. For women, declining estrogen makes it happen even faster. I know this. I still have to fight for it some days.

So I've been reframing. I'm not lifting for a trophy anymore — I'm lifting for the 100-year-old version of me. The one who can still get up off the floor on her own.

And when I miss a day, or make a choice that doesn't serve me? I give myself grace. One choice doesn't define the path. There's always another step.

This is what coaching is really about — helping you find the motivation that lives inside you, not outside you. And we're right there in the jungle with you. 🔪🌿

Last year I left the Bronx, gave away almost everything I owned, and went back to school in my 60s to become a Health & Wellness Coach. I sat for my Board certification exam and now I'm in the waiting period. Six weeks until I know.

Here's the thing I keep coming back to. Excitement and nervousness feel exactly the same in the body. Racing heart, restless energy, can't sit still. The only difference is which story you tell yourself about it. So I choose excitement. Every time.

For the first time in my life, I feel like I'm doing exactly what I'm meant to do.

I wrote the full story on the blog. Link below. 👇🏽

What would YOU reinvent about your life right now, if you let yourself?

Can we talk about summer for a second?

I used to love it. Truly. Beach trips, rooftop dinners, long July walks that felt wonderful.

Then came menopause. And now summer feels less like a season and more like a test I didn’t study for.

If you’ve noticed that heat hits differently now — that hot flashes are worse in summer, that you’re sweating in situations that never used to bother you, that you’re sleeping with a fan pointed at your face in what should be a perfectly comfortable room — there is a reason. And it’s not just “getting older.”
It’s your hypothalamus — the brain’s thermostat — being destabilized by the hormonal shifts of menopause. And it is completely real, completely common, and completely addressable.

I wrote about it this week on the blog — what’s actually happening, what makes it worse, and what genuinely helps beyond the obvious “drink water and stay cool” advice.

Your beach chair is waiting. Let’s get you back to it. 💚

Can I be real with you for a second?

A lot of women in midlife tell me they’ve given up on exercise because nothing seems to work anymore. They’re eating the same. Moving the same. But their body is changing anyway and they don’t understand why.

Here’s what’s happening: after 40, women begin losing muscle mass at a rate of 3 to 8 percent per decade. Estrogen loss in perimenopause accelerates that. And less muscle means a slower metabolism, less strength, and more fat accumulation — regardless of what the scale says.

The fix is not more cardio. It’s not a stricter diet. It’s lifting weights — consistently, intelligently, and in a way that works with your changing body, not against it.

As a PT and a two-time World Champion Powerlifter, I wrote this week’s blog post about exactly why strength training after 40 is one of the most important things you can do for your health right now — and how to start without wrecking yourself in the process.

French novelist Gustave Flaubert on happiness:

"The secret of being happy consists of knowing how to enjoy yourself—enjoy being at table, in bed, enjoy standing up, sitting down, enjoy the nearest ray of sunshine, the slightest bit of landscape: in other words, love everything."

Unpopular opinion: rest is productive.
Your body repairs during rest. Your brain consolidates during rest. Your nervous system regulates during rest.
Lying on the couch on a Sunday afternoon is not laziness. It is maintenance.
You wouldn't skip an oil change. Don't skip this either. 🌿

I've trained to sell wine. I've acted on stage. I've done voice work. I've been a massage therapist, a physical therapist, and an ergonomic assessment specialist.

Sounds scattered, right?

From where I stood in the middle of all of it — it absolutely did. But from this perch, with the clarity that only comes with time and honest reflection, I can see exactly how every single one of those experiences led me here.

Health and wellness coaching is the most fulfilling work of my life. And I could not have found my way here without every seemingly unrelated detour that came before it.

That's the gift of this stage of life. You finally have the hindsight to see the whole picture.

midlife isn’t biological decline—it is biological adaptation. our bodies do not stop. They transform. What if menopause isn’t the end of ovarian function… but the beginning of something new? For decades, we’ve been told that after menopause the ovaries simply become dormant—as though the...
