Started the day doing the Annual “The Murph” hero workout. Every Memorial Day me and several friends do this workout not just to challenge ourselves and each other but to also in our own way pay tribute to all the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country 🇺🇸. “The Murph” was one of the workouts Lt. Michael P. “Murph” Murphy would do as part of his conditioning regimen. He made the ultimate sacrifice in 2005 and this workout was made as tribute to him.

Details of the workout:

*wearing a 20 lb. vest (also optional to not wear it)*

1 mile run
100 pull-ups
200 pushups
300 squats
1 mile run

*My Time: 53:27:24*

This was 1 minute and 14 seconds faster than last year.

Although the time doesn’t matter, the process of the workout itself is much more significant. So for folks expecting to go through “the suck,” enjoy it and cheer each other on and just stay focused. Take your breaks if you need it and keep pushing through! Have a great Memorial Day Weekend 🇺🇸 🙏🏻.

Comparing the different “free flow” ways of knife sparring from “Palakaw/Palusut” of Doce Pares Eskrima to Jeet Kune Do’s “Sumbrada”. All are great tools in developing tactile skills to movement that can set up for trapping to disarms as well as movement patterns. These are drills and not necessarily simulating real life knife attacks, but it can serve as tool and attribute development to help survive an encounter.

Here’s the full video of my explanation of the “Core Fist”. Now it doesn’t mean that this is the ultimate positioning for me with the fist as this is conceptual but I will be experimenting more with it and in the near future I’ll give my full personal take on it. For now I will be playing with the idea as I train.

The Core Fist as introduced by . It’s created by laying down the fingers over the middle finger in an overlapping position creating a triangular position within the fist. Structurally and anatomically it creates a secure position, almost a sense of reinforcement of the fist. More to come on this as I try this more in training.

Finally got the chance to meet the Man himself founder of and the inventor of the Bosu Ball and the developer of The Rope Flow. It was great to finally speak to him and listen to his instruction in working the rope flow method. So for many of you who have been following me, I have used a lot of his methods which is based on the spinal engine theory in helping a lot of our patients in their recovery and in movement whether it’s rope flow or even from the Landmine university method as it is derived from his methods. I’ve even used it to help me train for my competitions especially for the World Championships in Eskrima/Full contact stick fighting 2 years ago. Coach and I gained a lot of insight and I’m hoping to finally visit his lab in San Diego next year!

Overall I love the bar and it’s going to be placed to great use for my patients here in my clinic as well as myself and others looking to further progress in their lifts. Getting treatment for your lower back discomfort can be nerve wracking especially if it’s your first time at a chiropractor’s office or even physical therapist. With all the sensationalized adjustments all over social media, it can be overblown and can get carried away. But it all depends on the proper assessment and guidance by your healthcare team, not to mention education. Thanks again to Coach for letting me film this candid treatment.
