Do you live in NYC? If yes, we encourage you all to vote on the budget and have a say in how it affects your community.
Vote to support programming for parents, youth, etc. read the choices and select the ones that you care about. Let your voice be heard and vote!!
And share this campaign with your family, friends and neighbors all NYers ages 11 and above can vote on the People Money.

Kids had fun yesterday Sunday, April 26, 2026 with their parents at our annual Spring Carnival enjoying BBQ, Magic & Bubble show, face painting and cotton candy. We also invited some of our community partners Mercy Center, DCAS- Public Service Corps and League of Women Voters & internal partners CUNY EDGE and Career Services to share information on the services they have available to our parenting students.
We want to thank our Hostos Peace Officers for supporting this event.

And thank you to our sponsors Hostos Career Services, Hostos CUNY EDGE, Hostos Fatherhood Academy, Hostos Children's Center, The President's Initiative for Students Success, Hostos Student Government Associations, Hostos Leadership Academy, Hostos Student Affairs and Hostos ASAP.

And Special thanks to Hostos Family Empowerment Club and all the volunteers, we had a successful event because everyone pitched in.

Broker Fees Are Now Illegal in NYC: The FARE Act


This week’s update comes from the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit.


The Fairness in Apartment Rental Expenses (FARE) Act took effect on June 11, 2025. This law prohibits brokers who represent landlords from charging broker fees to tenants. This includes brokers who publish listings with the landlord’s permission. Landlords or their agents must disclose other fees that the tenant must pay in their listings and rental agreements.

Forced broker fees are now ILLEGAL and landlords cannot charge real estate broker fees to renters. Being forced to pay a broker you didn’t hire? File a complaint with your text messages, screenshots, etc. at
