The fertility awareness method (FAM) became my best tool to heal my painful periods.

I didn’t come to FAM for natural contraception .. I came to it to learn about my hormones and what was happening at the root of my period pain.

Yes, the contraception aspect is a HUGE plus because you can then avoid the hormones and devices that come with the pill, the implant, or an IUD. But FAM goes well beyond that. It teaches you body literacy - how to read your cervical mucus and understand signs of ovulation.

When I first started using FAM, it was to gather more info about my body - I learned how to tell if and when I was ovulating, how long my follicular phase was and how long my luteal phase was, which gave me so much info about my health to bring to my doctors, acupuncturists, and naturopaths. It gave me the language to describe exactly what symptoms I was feeling at which points in my cycle. I felt so empowered and informed about my body!

This is why I decided to become a certified FAM educator - to help you feel informed and empowered in your body too, and to help you ditch medical birth control, if you wish! I finally got approval on all my last FAM assignments and the last step to being certified is to take my final exam! Can’t wait!

I’ll be launching my first FAM course in 2021 and I’m looking for 5 people who want to learn FAM to jump on a free call with me - this isn’t a sales call, but a call to help me understand how I can best help folx like you who want to learn FAM. In return you’ll get a free 15 min consult with me to ask me any questions you’d like! DM me if you’d like to jump on a call!

We all DESERVE access to a bleedcation, but our capitalist and patriarchal work culture doesn’t make it easy.

It takes a lot of resources to have a healthy bleed, and rest helps our body focus its resources on just that. Sometimes my clients find that their period pain decreases exponentially or even goes away completely with rest. This holds true for me too! Rest has been my number one tool in navigating debilitating period pain, and this is one of the main reasons I started my own business .. seriously.

By having my own business, I have the huge privilege of taking off while I bleed, and I do it because I know I’ll be healthier and have more energy throughout the entire rest of my cycle. When I’m healthier, I show up for myself and for all my clients way more fully!

But you shouldn’t have to start your own business to get some time off. I’ve been working with many of my clients to navigate their jobs while bleeding, and while they are often first met with resistance, new conversations are opening up and they are leading the way! Until paid menstrual leave is normal, respected, and encouraged, the advocacy falls on us to speak our needs.

I’m about to take my bleedcation, so I’ll see you next week, but let me know in the comments if you have ever been able to fully rest while bleeding and if you were, how did it feel for you?

The suppression of womxn healers is not new.

It’s angering to me when I still see articles that highlight gynecologists’ misinformation about vaginal steaming. But looking back through history, this pattern of silencing traditional healing practices in favor of the western medical model is not new.

Historically, colonization and slavery at the hands of Europeans has suppressed traditional healing practices globally, while the witch burnings suppressed midwives and healers in Europe.

Womb healing practices and practitioners are not silenced because their methods are harmful or ineffective - in fact, these methods are the very opposite - we are silenced because we are a threat to professions historically dominated by white men.

Womb having humxns shouldn’t have to fear diving into ancient and traditional healing methods because of the false misconceptions that have been spread for centuries by doctors (female doctors included now).

But it doesn’t surprise me that menstruators sitting over a pot of herbal steam and reporting that it decreased their period pain, helped them get pregnant after unexplained infertility, got rid of their yeast infection faster than any medicine, and shrank their fibroids, etc… comes under so much scrutiny. This is not a new pattern.

Does this fire you up and make you want to reclaim vaginal steaming for your own self-healing?! I offer vaginal steam consultations to help you begin your own ongoing steaming practice from your own home with a steam schedule and an herbal recipe that is completely customized to your body. My prices are going up at the end of this month, so head to the link in my bio to schedule your consult!

Every morning as soon as I wake up, I put a thermometer in my mouth and take my temperature.

Is this because of the pandemic? Nope .. it’s because it gives me info about whether or not I’ve ovulated yet.

I also observe my cervical mucus all day every day on the toilet paper each time I use the bathroom, because it lets me know what phase of my menstrual cycle I’m in and whether or not I’m fertile.

This method I’m talking about is the fertility awareness method, and I’m about to be a certified educator!

The fertility awareness method is a system of tracking your menstrual cycle to first and foremost have a deeper understanding of your health and hormones, but it can also be used to help you avoid or achieve pregnancy.

It’s 99.4% effective with perfect use as a form of contraception WITHOUT hormones and devices. It works solely by understanding your body deeply.

This method has helped me become an informed and empowered advocate for my body and my health! I’m kinda obsessed!

Check out my story highlight in my bio called charting to see what a chart looks like!

Fall is the premenstrual phase of the year 🍁🥕🍂

If you ever feel lost in your menstrual cycle, you can always look to nature for guidance.

Fall and our premenstrual phase are both about harvesting - the outer harvest of crops and the inner harvest of our own growth.

When we harvest, we celebrate what we have grown and manifested, but we also see what has not grown and what has gotten bugs.

When I was digging up my mom’s carrots yesterday, some of them indeed had bugs, but others were full and vibrant like this one!

Every fall and every premenstrual phase I encourage you to do your own personal harvest:

- What did you manifest this year that you can celebrate?
- What did not grow as you had wished and why? What got bugs?
- What is still in the process of growing?

Comment your answers to any of these questions below!

Do you experience period pain and/or heavy periods?

If so ... stop your scroll because period prep is going to change your life!

Period prep is key to having a healthy, restful, and easeful period. It has been my number 1 most effective way for navigating and reducing my debilitating period pain, and has also made huge differences for my clients.

If I just tell you to rest while bleeding, it may feel impossible to be able to do that, especially with our 24/7 work culture. But .. we can honor our bodies and create time for ourselves to rest by planning ahead.

Here are some steps you can take:
1. Cancel or reschedule all plans that are optional
2. Cook at least 3 giant pots of nourishing soups and stews ahead of time to have ready for when you bleed
3. Finish up work projects by tying up lose ends and getting things to a place where it’s ok to pause

Basically, don’t do anything extra that you don’t have to, and if anything can be done ahead of time, do it! Have you tried any of these tips before? If so let me know how it went in the comments! Also make sure you’re following me because I’ll be sharing some of my fave period foods soon!

Nothing is passed down for over a hundred thousand years if it’s not extremely valuable!

Ancient people from all over the world tracked the menstrual cycle and the moon cycle, which were one in the same when we didn’t have light pollution and environmental toxins galore throwing off the balance of our hormones.

Ancient people could predict birth within a day because conception would occur on the full moon, and they noticed that pregnancy lasted 10 moon cycles. Tracking the moon cycle and the embodiment of it in the womb became a way of time keeping. (Info from The Great Cosmic Mother by Monica Sjoo and Barbara Mor)

Today, I teach all of my clients how to track their menstrual cycle (their inner moon cycle) so that they can learn more about their bodies and implement self-care strategies to support each phase.

This is why I’ve created Rewilding Your Womb - to share my unique framework with you for how to track your cycle to embrace your gifts while caring for your vulnerabilities.

This program is a 6-week online group immersion for spiritual womxn to embody your menstrual cycle by attuning to the wisdom of the moon and the earth. Registration is closing in just a few days and spots are filling up! DM me if you’d like to join us - I’d love to share more with you and answer all your questions!
