After three years of shoulder pain and arm weakness caused by two herniated discs, Michelle came to Dr. Han Jo Kim in search of a third opinion and a path forward. With her sister’s wedding only months away and her role as maid of honor on the line, the thought of surgery felt overwhelming. At age seven, Fajr was diagnosed with scoliosis after uneven shoulders were noticed. Years later, her curve progressed to 70°, and Dr. Han Jo Kim recommended surgery. She underwent a successful procedure and made a strong recovery, allowing her to return to an active, healthy teenage life. Inspired by her experience, she now hopes to become a spine surgeon and help others in the same way Dr. Kim helped her.
