When you think something is useless, remember this: You may simply not have discovered its purpose yet. Life has a strange way of using things we once dismissed. An experience you thought was a waste of time. A skill you thought you’d never need. A failure that seemed to give you nothing. A delay that felt completely pointless. And then one day… You find yourself in a situation where that very experience becomes useful. The lesson helps you. The failure prepares you. The delay protects you. The skill opens a door. That’s the problem with judging life too early. We look at one moment and decide it has no value because we cannot yet see where it fits into the bigger picture. Not everything reveals its purpose immediately. Some things only make sense when you reach the chapter where you finally need them. So don’t be too quick to call something useless. Life may still be preparing the moment that explains why it was there.

If you’re in a relationship with me, I have one rule: Hurt me with the truth. No matter how painful it is. No matter how difficult it is to hear. No matter how uncomfortable the conversation becomes. But never comfort me with a lie. Because the truth may break my heart for a while, but a lie will make me question everything. My memories. My judgment. My trust. Even the moments I once believed were real. Honesty may create a difficult conversation today, but deception creates wounds that can last for years. Don’t lie because you’re afraid of losing me. If the truth changes the relationship, at least allow me to make that decision with reality in front of me. Real love does not protect someone by keeping them in the dark. It respects them enough to tell them what they deserve to know. So give me the painful truth. Let me cry. Let me process it. Let me decide what comes next. But never build my peace on something that was never real. Because truth may hurt once. A lie hurts every time it is remembered.

We don’t experience the same rain. Some people have umbrellas. Some people have roofs. Some people have a warm home waiting for them, with people inside who love them enough to open the door before they even knock. And some people only have themselves. That’s why we should be slower to judge and quicker to understand. Because we don’t know what season someone is surviving in silence. We don’t know what pain they are carrying. We don’t know how many battles they are fighting while still trying to smile, work, love, and keep going. It is easy to assume life is lighter for everyone else. But the truth is, every person is standing under a different sky. Some are dancing in the rain. Some are crying so no one can see their tears. And some are simply trying not to drown. So choose kindness. Choose patience. Choose compassion. Because you may never know how heavy someone’s rain is until you’ve stood where they are.
