On August 11, the Harlem Vet Center formally dedicated its expanded space at 55 West 125th Street.

Veterans, community partners, local officials, and staff came together to reaffirm the center’s mission: providing confidential, community-based counseling and support to Veterans, Service Members, and their families right here in Harlem.

Established in 1979, the Harlem Vet Center continues that legacy in a welcoming new space designed to better serve those who have served.
Vet Centers offer free, confidential help with PTSD, military sexual trauma, depression, family counseling, and more. No VA enrollment or disability rating required.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone!

Last week at St. Albans Community Living Center, VA New York Harbor Healthcare System recognized seven of our Veteran patients who are Purple Heart recipients.

In partnership with the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE), the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and our Chaplain Service, we came together to acknowledge their courage, sacrifice, and continued strength.

To our seven Purple Heart recipients, and to all who serve, we offer our deepest respect and gratitude. We remain committed to providing the highest quality care to those who have given so much.

On Buffalo Soldiers Day, we honor the African American soldiers who, beginning in 1866, served with courage and distinction. Their service in the American West helped shape our Army and our nation. Their legacy of honor, resilience, and sacrifice lives on. 🇺🇸🦬

🎨 On Tuesday, July 7th, a group of Veterans from the Manhattan campus of the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System took part in a hands-on creative arts therapy outing at The Clay Arts Center (Clay Art Center) in Port Chester, New York.

In the center’s newly accessible classroom, the Veterans had the chance to try their hand at the pottery wheel, learning wheel-throwing techniques while creating their own original clay pieces. They also explored glaze options and toured the full studio, including the workspaces of the center’s resident artists.

These meaningful experiences give Veterans a space to express themselves, build new skills, and connect with others—all in a welcoming and accessible environment.

A big thank you to The Clay Arts Center () for partnering with us and supporting our Veterans through the healing power of art!
