Starting a series on engaging and building better relationships with our children. Here’s this weeks thought to ponder. Ask yourself this: am I listening to respond or to understand my child? This doesn’t just apply to working with children, but it is crucial in this realm. Many times the answers we need to help our children/what they need from us are right there, we just get so caught up in responding and having the right answer to what they said that we miss it. Listen, understand, respond. That’s the order - and if after listening you don’t understand, ask a related question with the intention of genuinely listening after and understanding more. This is the way to avoid reacting and to make your child feel heard and understood - which is often times the root of many “behaviors” - a child who feels misunderstood or not heard. Let me know what you think below, let’s get a discussion going in the comments

Happy World Autism Day! This is a video of a performance with Ben from Maybe Autism Is My Superpower - When Ben told me his dream was to have a career in music, we got to work practicing and learning to perform in public. We have been building an entertainment company/music business together to bring this dream into reality. Ben is a gifted musician, and sky is truly the limit for him. I am very proud of how far he has come and I can’t wait to see the rest of his music career unfold! Thanks for having me be a part of the journey. ❤️🎶🎸🎤

Please support this amazing cause! Keep up the great work Ben!
