5 expensive things I believe are worth the money if you're struggling to lose weight or lower your A1C ↓
1️⃣ Panchakarma 🌿
In Ayurveda, properly supervised Panchakarma helps clear Ama, strengthen Agni, reduce excess Kapha/Meda and address stagnation. All important considerations in Ayurvedic metabolic and weight management.
2️⃣ Organic produce 🥬
I choose organic when possible to reduce exposure to certain pesticide residues. Some environmental chemicals are being studied as endocrine disruptors/obesogens because they may interfere with insulin signaling, fat-cell biology and metabolic regulation.
Can't afford organic? Wash your produce well and eat the vegetables anyway.
3️⃣ High-quality Ayurvedic formulations 🌿
Certain Ayurvedic botanicals have evidence for supporting glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, inflammation, appetite and lipid metabolism.
I'm intentionally NOT naming them because herbs should be personalized based on Prakriti, Vikriti, Agni, medications and health history not self-prescribed from Instagram.
4️⃣ Vacuum-sealed GLASS containers 🥗
Weekend meal prep = wash, chop, batch-cook, store → home-cooked meals even on busy days.
I prefer glass to reduce unnecessary food contact with plastic. Emerging research is investigating microplastics for potential effects on the gut microbiome, intestinal barrier, inflammation and glucose/insulin signaling. And vacuum sealed containers keep the food fresh for a longer time.
5️⃣ Abhyanga oils + Udvartana powders 🌿
Abhyanga: supports relaxation, sleep and Vata regulation which is important foundation for metabolic health.
Udvartana: traditionally used for Kapha/Meda, heaviness and stagnation as an adjunct to weight-management practices.
None of these replaces the basics:
🥗 Food + 🏋🏽♀️ strength + 🚶🏽♀️ movement + 😴 sleep + 🧘🏽♀️ stress management but they support them.
Spend on tools that SUPPORT your healthy habits not replace them.
📌 SAVE this before your next wellness splurge.
