☀️🇺🇸 No Fryday Alert 🇺🇸☀️

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer — but it’s also the start of increased UV exposure and sun damage. As a board-certified dermatologist, I want to remind everyone that skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, and it is largely preventable.

Before you head to the beach, pool, barbecue, or boat, protect your skin:
🧴 Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen every day
👒 Choose sun-protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses
⏰ Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours (and after swimming/sweating)
🌤 Seek shade during peak UV hours: 10 AM–4 PM
🔍 Check your skin regularly for changing or new spots

A tan is not healthy skin — it’s skin damage. Protect the skin you’re in so you can enjoy the summer safely for years to come.

Stay sun smart this Memorial Day weekend and all summer long. ☀️🩺

An inspiring night at the Gala celebrating advocacy, awareness, and the power of early detection ✨

Honored to join an evening dedicated to advancing skin cancer education and prevention — with unforgettable moments alongside the incredible Michelle Monaghan and an amazing performance by the Hank Azaria band 🎶🖤

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S., and events like these help shine a light on the importance of prevention, regular skin checks, and protecting the skin we’re in. ☀️🧴

Melanoma Monday | May 4, 2026

As we head into the summer months, it’s the perfect time to pause and talk about something that truly saves lives: early detection of melanoma.

Here’s why this matters:
In the U.S., an estimated 112,000 new invasive melanomas will be diagnosed in 2026
More than 234,000 total cases (including early-stage melanoma) are expected this year 8,500 people will die from melanoma in 2026
Melanoma makes up only ~1% of skin cancers—but causes the majority of skin cancer deaths (American Cancer Society)

Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer—but when caught early, it is highly treatable.

Here’s what I want you to remember:
Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every single day (yes—even when it’s cloudy)
Know your skin. If something looks new, changing, or different—get it checked
Annual skin exams matter. Don’t skip them

The ABCDEs of melanoma can help guide you:
A – Asymmetry
B – Border irregularity
C – Color variation
D – Diameter >6mm
E – Evolving (this is the most important)

Your skin is your largest organ—take care of it like it matters, because it does.

If you’ve been putting off a skin check, consider this your sign to schedule one.

Spring skincare switch 🌸 (from a dermatologist)

As the weather warms up, your skin’s needs change too. Here’s what I recommend swapping in your routine:

☀️ Lighten your moisturizer
Winter creams → switch to lightweight lotions or gel-based hydrators (think hyaluronic acid, glycerin)

🧴 Re-evaluate your cleanser
If you used a creamy cleanser all winter, you may benefit from a gentle foaming cleanser now

🌿 Add antioxidants in the morning
Vitamin C = brighter skin + extra protection against environmental damage

🧽 Exfoliate (but don’t overdo it)
Spring is a great time to reintroduce AHAs/BHAs 1–3x/week for smoother, clearer skin

🌞 SPF is non-negotiable
Longer days = more UV exposure
Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every single morning

💧 Don’t ditch hydration
Even if you feel less dry, your skin still needs barrier support

✨ Bonus: If you’re acne-prone, warmer weather can trigger breakouts—consider oil-free or non-comedogenic products

Save this for your seasonal reset ✔️
