😴 Is your child still on a summer sleep schedule?

Late nights and slower mornings are part of summer, but returning to an early school schedule can be a big adjustment.

Rather than waiting until the night before school starts, begin shifting bedtime and wake time gradually. Keeping a consistent routine, reducing screens before bed, getting morning sunlight, and creating a calming nighttime routine can all help make the transition easier.

A little preparation now can help kids head back to school feeling more rested, alert, and ready for the day. 🌙

The ocean is medicine. 🌊

There’s a reason we feel different by the water. And it’s not just because we’re on vacation.

Ocean air and breaking waves create a unique environment that may support the body in some pretty incredible ways:

• Negative ions created by crashing waves have been studied for their effects on mood, stress and serotonin signaling.

• Sea-salt aerosols — those microscopic droplets suspended in ocean air — interact directly with our respiratory system.

• Phytoncides released by coastal plants have been studied for their effects on cortisol, immune function and natural killer cell activity.

• And then there’s the nervous system: the sound, rhythm, light, movement and expansive horizon all give the brain cues to downshift.

Maybe that feeling of taking a huge breath the second you reach the ocean isn’t just in your head.

Our environment is part of our medicine.

Sometimes healing looks like supplements, food and sleep.

And sometimes it looks like standing at the edge of the ocean and breathing it all in.

Music is medicine.

Music shifts us. It moves energy, changes our physiology, brings us back into our bodies, and reaches places that words sometimes can’t.

Last week, standing in a room full of people singing together, we were reminded of just how healing that can be.

More music. More singing. More of the things that make us feel fully alive. 🤍

Most people have heard of inflammation. But what about inflammaging?

Inflammaging is the chronic, low-grade inflammation that can quietly build over time and accelerate aging. Unlike the inflammation that helps you heal after an injury, this kind often flies under the radar—yet it can affect everything from energy and brain function to hormones, metabolism, and long-term health.

The good news? It's not inevitable.

The foods you eat, the quality of your sleep, your stress levels, movement, blood sugar, gut health, and environmental exposures all play a role—and they're all things we can work on.

At Flora, we don't just treat symptoms. We look for why inflammation is happening in the first place using comprehensive testing and a personalized, root-cause approach.

🌿 Swipe through to learn what inflammaging is and the simple, meaningful ways you can help slow it down and support healthy aging for years to come.

🌿 What's one of Dr. Shannon's favorite longevity tools?

Stress is a part of life—but how well your body recovers from stress may have a meaningful impact on long-term health.

In this video, Dr. Shannon shares why she's a fan of the , a wearable device designed to stimulate the vagus nerve and support a more relaxed, parasympathetic ("rest and digest") state.

She also explains why heart rate variability (HRV) is an important marker of resilience. In general, a higher HRV is associated with a greater ability to adapt to physical and emotional stress.

▶️ Watch the video to hear Dr. Shannon's perspective on vagus nerve stimulation, HRV, and building resilience for long-term wellness.

Healthy aging is shaped by what we do most days—not by one supplement, one workout, or one perfect meal.

The basics matter: sleep, movement, nourishing food, stress support, strong relationships, a sense of purpose, and a healthier environment.

None of it has to be perfect. Small, consistent choices can make a meaningful difference in how we feel now and how we age over time.

🌿 Swipe through for the seven pillars of longevity.

⚡ Healthy aging starts with your cells.

Mitochondria are responsible for making the energy that powers nearly everything your body does—from thinking clearly and exercising to repairing and healing.

As we get older, they naturally become less efficient. The good news is that our everyday choices can help support mitochondrial health over time.

Dr. Patel explains why mitochondria matter, what gets in their way, and some simple ways to help keep them functioning well.

There isn't one secret to longevity. It's the accumulation of small habits over time, and taking care of your mitochondria is one piece of that bigger picture.

Backyard Botanicals: Rosemary 🌿 | Longevity Edition

Rosemary is one of those plants that deserves a little more attention.

I, for one, have tons of this in my garden. Beyond adding flavor to your meals, it's rich in compounds that have been studied for their antioxidant and neuroprotective effects. Emerging research suggests rosemary may help support memory, focus, and overall cognitive health—one reason it has been valued in traditional medicine for centuries.

Health is built through the accumulation of small habits, and cooking with herbs like rosemary is one of those simple habits that can add up over time. It's an easy way to increase the diversity of beneficial plant compounds in your diet while adding fresh flavor to everyday meals.

🌱 Sometimes supporting your health starts with something as simple as what's growing in your backyard.

Cyclospora isn't a virus—it's a parasite that can cause prolonged diarrhea, bloating, fatigue, and abdominal cramping.
In this video, Dr. Patel explains what it is, how to reduce your risk, and what to do if your symptoms won't go away.
