How can our immigrant students integrate into society and become active, dignified, contributing members of the place they now call home?

English is a key part of that!

Knowing English enables our students to communicate more clearly with their bosses, co-workers, doctors, children's teachers, and neighbors without depending on a translator. It opens up the chance to get job promotions, aim higher for their families, and give back to their communities.

We're grateful for the volunteer teacher, donors, and partners who make this a possibility for so many immigrant individuals and families.

We really enjoyed chatting with the many people who came by our table last Saturday at the Grace-in-Motion 5K Run for the Kids! It's always a pleasure to share about the work we do supporting the immigrant community of the greater NYC metropolitan area through free ESL classes... and about how YOU can get involved!

FIFTY-FIVE students.

55 students are currently on a waitlist for our virtual Beginner level class ALONE to learn English with The Open Door and start changing their lives...

We need volunteers to step up in order to open more classrooms in our Virtual Program (Mondays or Wednesdays 7:00-8:15pm). This will allow more students to start building the language skills they need to thrive in their families, at work, and in everyday life. 💪🏼

On September 30, David French encouraged The Open Door to keep telling the stories of our students: the people who come through our doors with determination, hope, and a desire to pursue a better future for themselves and their families.

So many supporters are helping make those stories possible! Because of the generosity of many, students can attend our English classes—for free!—and build the language skills they need to thrive in their families, at work, and in everyday life. 💪🏼
