Every two hours, without exception, she entered the room and repositioned the patient who could not reposition themselves. It was unglamorous, physically demanding, and never acknowledged by anyone outside the nursing staff. But she knew what a pressure ulcer looked like once it started, and she had decided long ago that prevention was a form of care that did not require recognition to be important. The two o'clock turn was not a task on a checklist. It was a promise she made to every immobile patient on her floor: you will not be harmed by stillness on my watch.

Reminder: nurses do not report to us, physicians. RNs are not our "subordinates," "assistants," or of a "lower rank." They're not "under us," they have their own managers. RNs have an entirely different job and skillset. We can't do what they do and vice versa. We are colleagues.
