Last month, CHC was thrilled to be a part of New York City’s Livelong Women’s Health Summit, where our team joined women from across the country for powerful conversations about wellness and healthy aging. Thank you to Livelong Media™️ for having us!

This past weekend, CHC celebrated the launch of the Usher Syndrome Family Center and marked Usher Syndrome Awareness Day with a gathering in Central Park organized by the tristate Usher community. CHC partnered with HELLO Lab for a reading of Ezra and the Magnificent Cane by Dr. Jasmine Simmons.

What a wonderful way to spread awareness and connect. 💙

Today is Usher Syndrome Awareness Day! ♡

In recognition of this day, we are pleased to announce the launch of CHC’s Usher Syndrome Family Center (USFC), providing coordinated care, trusted guidance, and compassionate support for children, teens, adults, and families living with Usher syndrome.

Did you know Usher syndrome is a rare genetic condition that affects hearing and vision and may also impact balance? Individuals with Usher syndrome are born with or develop hearing loss and experience progressive vision loss over time.

Every family has a unique journey, but they should not have to navigate it alone. If you are living with Usher syndrome, have a family member, or know someone who is, we encourage you to contact the Usher Syndrome Family Center at CHC. It was wonderful to engage older New Yorkers and connect with health and wellness partners across the city at yesterday’s Healthy Aging Fair at Asphalt Green. Thanks to all who stopped by our table to learn about hearing health tips and resources, and who joined us in our mobile van unit for free hearing screenings!

A big thank you to NYC Department for the Aging and Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani for inviting us. We look forward to next year’s event!
