If you spend most of your days the way a lot of people your age do, head tilted down toward a phone or laptop screen for hours without much thought about it.

You'll start noticing a dull ache creeping up the back of your neck by early evening, then eventually into your upper back and even your temples on particularly long days.

You'll chalk it up to stress or bad sleep until someone mentioned the term text neck, the strain that builds up from constantly looking downward at a screen, and something clicked.

The average head weighs a lot more than people realize, and every inch it tilts forward multiplies the pressure on the neck and upper spine holding it up. Once you adjusted your screen height, added a few simple stretches to your routine, and came in for an evaluation to correct the tension that had already built up, the dull ache that used to show up like clockwork every evening finally started to disappear.

For months, Denise assumed the sharp pain running from her lower back down the back of her leg was just a stubborn muscle cramp, something that would eventually work itself out if she stretched enough or sat differently at her desk.

It got to the point where standing up from a chair took a visible pause, and even walking a few blocks left her wincing by the end of the trip. A friend finally mentioned the word sciatica, and once Denise looked into it, the description matched exactly what she had been feeling for weeks.

She learned that sciatica is not actually its own injury, it is a symptom, usually tied to pressure on a nerve near the lower spine, which meant treating the muscle alone was never going to be enough.

After a proper evaluation and a plan built around her spine rather than just the pain radiating from it, the sharp, shooting sensation that used to interrupt her day started fading, then eventually stopped showing up at all.

It rarely feels dramatic in the moment. A stop at a red light, a jolt from behind, a quick exchange with the other driver before everyone goes on their way. It is usually the next morning that tells a different story: a neck that feels like it was replaced overnight, stiff, tender, and difficult to turn without wincing.

It is easy to brush it off as something that will fade in a day or two, the way a lot of small aches do. But that tightness can linger for a week or more, a reminder that even minor accidents can leave something behind that is not always obvious right away.

With a proper evaluation, it often becomes clear that the neck absorbed more of the impact than it seemed to at first, and with a few weeks of consistent care, the stiffness that once made turning your head a daily chore can become something you no longer have to think about at all.

Diego and his daughter Camila spent Saturday afternoon shopping for school supplies, and somewhere between the notebooks and the new sneakers, he noticed how heavy her backpack looked slung over just one shoulder.

It reminded him of his own school years growing up in Bogota, carrying books the exact same way, brushing off his mother's reminders to use both straps like they were optional. Now, watching his daughter do the same thing he once did, he understood exactly what his mother had been trying to prevent all along.

Instead of waiting for the first week of school to turn into the first week of complaints about a sore back, they stopped in together before September started, Camila curious what an adjustment even felt like, Diego just hoping to get ahead of a school year full of heavy bags and long days hunched over a desk before it had the chance to begin.

Most people think a headache always starts in the head.

Very often, it doesn’t.

Many daily headaches and even some migraines begin in the neck. The upper part of the spine sits directly beneath the base of the skull, and when those joints become restricted from posture, long hours at a computer, driving, or stress, the surrounding muscles tighten and irritate nearby nerves. The result is pressure that travels upward, felt as headaches behind the eyes, tension around the temples, or pain at the base of the skull.

This is why some headaches return again and again even after medication. Pain relievers may quiet the symptoms for a while, but they don’t address the mechanical cause.

You may want to have your spine evaluated if you notice:
• headaches that start later in the day
• pain at the base of your skull
• neck stiffness or tight shoulders
• headaches after computer work
• frequent tension headaches

Chiropractic care focuses on restoring proper motion in the spine and reducing the tension placed on surrounding nerves and muscles. When the underlying irritation is reduced, many patients notice fewer headaches and better comfort throughout the day.

Relief is possible, and you don’t have to simply “live with it.”

By late afternoon, many people think they’re just tired…

But what you’re actually feeling is strain.

Every hour you sit with your head leaning forward at a computer or laptop, your neck holds far more weight than it was designed to carry. Over time, the muscles tighten, the joints stop moving properly, and the pressure begins to travel upward, that’s why headaches often start after work, not in the morning.

Most people try stretching, new pillows, or pain relievers. Sometimes it helps briefly, but the discomfort keeps returning because the source isn’t your muscles alone, it’s how your spine is functioning.

When the spine loses proper motion and alignment, the body compensates. That compensation becomes stiffness, tension, and eventually daily neck pain.

The good news: this is a very common and very treatable condition.

Hands-on chiropractic care focuses on restoring motion to the joints, reducing nerve irritation, and helping your body move the way it was designed to again.

If your neck pain shows up around 4PM, your chair may not be the real problem, your spine may need attention.
