Charles B. Wang Community Health Center hosted community partners, event sponsors, and local press at our newest site to promote our upcoming Elmhurst Family Health Fair event on Saturday, 10/24. Each partner shared what resources and activities they will be providing for FREE to all community members. Pop-up health fairs like this are just one of the many ways CBWCHC meets community members where they are and connects them with free healthcare screenings, education, and critical local resources from trusted partners.

Project Asian Health Education and Development (AHEAD) is a 10-week, paid, summer internship program designed to provide training and firsthand experience to undergraduate students interested in pursuing healthcare careers. Project AHEAD 2027 will take place from Tuesday, June 01, 2027 through Friday, August 06, 2027. The program will be fully in-person and interns will spend time in both Flushing, Queens and in Lower Manhattan, New York.

Applications for the 2027 program are now open! The preliminary application form must be submitted no later than Sunday, December 13, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Please visit bit.ly/ProjectAHEAD2027 for more information and to apply.

A 2024 report shows that breast cancer is “the most common cancer diagnosed among women in the United States” as well as “the 2nd leading cause of death from cancer among women” after lung cancer. Although breast cancer remains one of the most diagnosed cancers among women, timely screening and appropriate treatment can improve survival rates and quality of life for those who have been diagnosed.
