Carey Anderson, BFA, MSEd, LMHC, owner

I discovered my passion for psychotherapy
through a career in the performing arts.
Empathy is at the roots of both
professions. Using mindfulness, practicing
compassion and creatively and collaboratively
finding ways to help clients live healthier lives
is the foundation of my counseling practice.
Clinically trained at The Mount Sinai Hospital
in NYC, I am qualified to work with clients
experiencing a spectrum of symptoms
associated with mental health challenges.

New clinician!! Meet Emily Walton, MHC-LP:

I have spent the better part of 20 years as a performing artist, which has
helped lay the foundation for my work as a therapist. The common thread is
curiosity, compassion, humor, and vulnerability—qualities I will bring to our
work together. I am committed to creating a safe, open, and nonjudgmental
space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences,
however difficult they may be. I believe in every person’s inherent worth
and value, and I approach therapy from a strengths-based perspective. It’s
an honor for me to get to walk down the path of discovery with you, both of
us shining light on things that may be getting in your way, and then finding
solutions. Together, we will work collaboratively to uncover insights, build
resilience, and find relief, always at your pace and in line with your goals.

It was a pleasure sitting down with Cara and Jess at mamastalkinloud last week to talk about my career transition from Broadway performing artist to psychotherapist. It was also an opportunity for me to "geek out" about all things mental health for and passing along the wisdom I have learned from studying neuroscience, Tara Brach, my own therapist, positive psychology and my passion project, The Mindful Artist Series. Thank you for prioritizing mental health, mamas! 💙
