Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone

Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone The Perlmutter Cancer Center is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

At NYU Langone’s Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, our doctors are leaders in diagnosing and treating people with all types of cancer. Still, we hope for a time when we never have to make another cancer diagnosis, so we also research what causes cancer in hopes of someday eliminating the disease. This approach means that you get expert

medical care and the most innovative treatment approaches, as well as access to clinical trials. We understand that living with cancer is more than just a physical challenge and that it affects your family, too. That’s why we offer individual and group support, as well as integrative health services, to help you and your family cope with the emotional and physical challenges that may accompany your diagnosis. In addition to our flagship Manhattan location, Perlmutter Cancer Center has numerous sites throughout New York City and Long Island. Services vary by location but may include infusion treatment, radiation therapy, doctor’s offices, imaging, and our integrative health program. Perlmutter Cancer Center can also offer you access to physicians who are experts in all areas of medicine. From diabetes to back pain, we can help you find an NYU Langone doctor who specializes in any of your other medical needs.

Cancer changes more than the body — it can affect identity, relationships, emotions, and how we make sense of our lives. Learn why journaling and reflective writing can be used as practical, evidence-informed tools to help survivors process their experiences, reduce emotional distress, and build resilience as they move forward beyond active treatment. Supportive oncology nurse practitioner, Lindsey Wright, PMHNP-BC, ACHPN, will discuss why reflective writing works, how it supports emotional and psychological healing, and how to use simple writing practices during and after cancer treatment. No prior writing experience is needed. The focus is not on “good writing,” but on expression, reflection, and self-understanding.

Your gut microbiome may hold the answer to one of oncology’s hardest questions.
