When I published my first book on eye nutrition, “Beyond Carrots - Best Foods For Eye Health A to Z,” I asked my mentor what he thought about the topic becoming mainstream in eye care.

He told me it was unlikely because of this valid point:

Eye care providers, mainly ophthalmologists, would much rather do surgery and generate revenue, then counsel their patients about this topic, which would take time during the exam. Plus, it doesn’t even have a billable CPT code.

But the next important thing he told me was this - which will stay with me forever –

“Rudrani, it doesn’t matter if you’re speaking to deaf ears in our profession. If you can help just ONE person it will be worth it, so keep talking about it.”

Now years later, I’m finally getting traction on this topic and being offered chances to present it at multiple venues in the next few months.

I am so excited to get this information out there yo@my colleagues about how nutrition and lifestyle can positively impact eye health and help protect vision.

I’ll also keep posting this information on my Instagram account.

Which eye and nutrition topics would you like to hear about?

One of the most powerful ways to protect your vision for life is to include lots of colorful fruits and vegetables to support your retina and optic nerve health.

Multiple published studies in macular degeneration and glaucoma have shown that individuals who eat a higher amount of plants per day will have decreased risk of vision loss.
