October is ADHD Awareness Month 🧠

ADHD can affect a child’s attention, activity level, impulse control, organization, and everyday routines. It can look different from one child to another, which is why understanding the signs is so important.

Some children may daydream often, lose or forget things, fidget, talk frequently, act before thinking, or have difficulty staying focused and following through with tasks.

If you have concerns about your child’s attention, behavior, or school performance, speak with our pediatrician. Early support and the right resources can make a meaningful difference. 💙

In accordance with guidance from the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics, here are some developmental milestones to look for between the ages of 2 and 12 months. 🌟

Developmental milestones are helpful guides for understanding how your baby is growing, learning, communicating, playing, and moving. Every child develops at their own pace. Some children may reach certain skills earlier, while others may need a little more time, and that does not automatically mean that something is wrong.

If your child has not yet reached a milestone, or if you simply have a question about their development, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Our physician is available to review your concerns, guide you on whether it may simply take a little more time, recommend activities you can try at home, or let you know if further evaluation would be helpful.

During your child’s well visits, we also monitor and document their development and are always happy to discuss any questions or concerns.

Throughout our Milestone Monday series, we’ll also share simple tips and activities you can try at home to help support your child’s development. 💛

Milestones are a guide, not a comparison. Every child’s journey is different.

On this Thursday, we’re highlighting how simple play can build big skills. 💛

From busy boards and blocks to Twister, lacing beads, sorting activities, and more, everyday toys can support fine motor skills, coordination, counting, colors, following directions, attention, problem-solving, and independence.

Swipe through to see how learning can happen through play — one activity at a time.

All activities should be completed with adult supervision and adjusted to the child’s age and developmental level.

🚨 IMPORTANT MEASLES UPDATE 🚨

New York State has declared a State Disaster Emergency in response to the ongoing measles outbreak.

Measles is highly contagious, so we encourage parents and caregivers to make sure children are up to date on their MMR vaccine and to watch for symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, red/watery eyes, and rash.

⚠️ If you believe your child has been exposed to measles or is showing symptoms, please call our office before coming in so we can guide you appropriately and help protect other patients and families.

Swipe ➡️ for important information from New York State, NYC Health, and the CDC.
