Flexibility doesn’t grow by repeatedly pulling a child past their limit.

In our newest Resilience video, we look at what may be underneath rigidity and how preparation, practice, predictability, and support can help neurodivergent kids handle change without feeling as though their whole world has tipped sideways.

Bravery doesn’t always look bold.

For a neurodivergent child, it may mean answering one question, tasting one unfamiliar food, entering a noisy room, asking to join a game, or trying something new for two minutes. Our newest blog explores how these “small brave things” help children build resilience through manageable risks, meaningful support, and repeated experiences of realizing, “That was hard, and I did it.”

Resilience isn’t the same as toughness-and needing support doesn’t make a child less strong.

In the first video of our Resilience series, we’re redefining what strength can look like for neurodivergent kids. It may include big feelings, accommodations, recovery time, asking for help, and trying again when they’re ready.

Resilience is often described as “bouncing back,” staying tough, or pushing through-but real resilience is much more human than that.

Throughout September, we’re looking at how resilience actually develops for neurodivergent children and their families: through safety, support, recovery, flexibility, repair, and the freedom to try again. We’ll talk about navigating change, recovering from hard moments, taking small risks, handling social challenges, and staying connected to yourself along the way.
