New video where I explain CSF flow, syrinx improvement, symptom relief, and realistic recovery timelines - hopefully helping patients feel informed and less anxious about surgery.
🎥 Watch and share the presentation and gain a better understanding of what to expect when considering surgery.

Join me, for "Under Pressure: How Patients Can Understand the How and Why of Surgery for Chiari in the Presence of Syringomyelia." This patient-focused session explains the relationship between CM and SM, the role of cerebrospinal fluid flow, and how surgery aims to relieve pressure and restore normal fluid movement. I am speaking July 28th, 4PM, but the conference is two full days and registration is free!

After 15 years, working in collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, my partner Mark Souweidane and I will be shifting our entire neuro-oncology practice to The Children's Hospital of New York where the majority of our non-oncology neurosurgical care has always been provided. The opportunity to grow a world-class neuro-oncology practice at the #1 Children's Hospital in New York with the hospital's total support is exciting beyond words. Official notification below. Peace and Love to all.

This month I will highlight all the amazing members of the team that make our practice and caring for patients from all of the country possible.

December employee Spotlight: Gloria Harper

Many of you know her already but an official welcome to Gloria Harper our amazing new nurse practitioner on the team who started with last summer.

Gloria is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with deep expertise in caring for patients with complex neurological conditions, including Chiari malformation, tethered cord, arachnoid cysts, hydrocephalus and shunt-dependent disorders.

Dr. Harper earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Arizona and brings over a decade of high-acuity clinical experience from leading healthcare institutions. She is deeply committed to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based neurosurgical care and ensuring that every patient feels informed, supported, and empowered throughout their treatment journey.

She provides comprehensive pre- and post-operative management and support patients through evaluation, surgery and long-term follow-up. Starting in 2026 she will be seeing certain patients independently for comprehensive evaluations, triage and follow-up of all these conditions to reduce wait times, streamline access and share her unique experience balanced with the compassionate care you expect from us all.
