The best advocate grieving families and funeral homeowners need today – someone who is there to help families see the passionate and knowledgeable support funeral homes really are. Someone who is there to hold your hand (or the phone/paperwork) the entire way through a memorial service and help a grieving family to find their voice so they can truly mark and remember fully the life of their favori

te person. A sincere ally who will help completely pay homage to a life lost that will engage all five of the human senses. www.muldowneymemorials.com

“Im sorry for your loss” gets alot of hate and is a regular feature of many a “what not to say” top 10 hot list in Grief blogs, vlogs and social posts but we’re here to defend it…a little.

We think it best to say something than nothing at all. All of these lists and recommendations of ‘what not to say’ will soon create (if it hasn’t already) a loneliness epidemic.

Being afraid to open your mouth for fear of offending or further adding injury or insulting the bereaved will result in more silence, and less community in our opinion.

We encourage you to show up and do what you can when you can. We are all grieving something so be kind to yourself and to others.

Curiosity is one of the greatest acts of compassion we can offer another human being. LISTEN, don’t judge.

Instead of fear, judgment, or assumptions, we can choose to ask questions, to listen, and to learn. Whether it’s another religion, culture, race, sexuality, funeral tradition, or choice of disposition, every belief (and every farewell) has a story behind it.

The world becomes a kinder place when we replace “That’s strange” with “Tell me more.”

As someone who has been welcomed into funeral traditions around the world, Curiosity strengthens our humanity and reminds us that there is more than one way to live, more than one way to love, and more than one way to say goodbye.

Let’s all lean in a bit more before we turn our heads away.
