One of my favorite things about speaking to students at NYU was discussing a topic that extends far beyond design.

In a world where it’s easier than ever to copy someone else’s aesthetic, the businesses that endure are the ones with a point of view.

Your office. Your brand. Your website. Your patient experience. They should all tell your story—not someone else’s.

Inspiration is valuable. I take inspiration from incredible designers, architects, and businesses all the time. But inspiration should be the starting point, not the destination.

The goal isn’t to look like everyone else.

The goal is to become unmistakably yourself.

That’s what people remember.
