Do you know about SACHR’s LUCHA Workforce Development Program?

Through the incredible LUCHA Equity Fund we are working to bring job readiness to our South Bronx and New York City community.

A special thanks to our incredible partners and funders who made this crucial resource and program possible.

At SACHR, our art group is more than a creative space—it’s a place for healing and community. Through our ongoing art programming, participants have had the opportunity to explore new mediums and create alongside incredible visiting artists who have generously shared their talents with us right here in the South Bronx.

We were also grateful to spend time together at the New York Botanical Garden as part of ongoing field trips, where our folks came together in a way that reminded us that healing happens in many forms.

Thank you to every participant, our Facilitating Artist Mia Hause, our rotating visiting artists, and community partners who have helped make this program so meaningful. 🌱✨

Color, creativity, and community 🌈✨

We spent the day in the park getting our hands messy with tie dye, sharing laughs, and creating something uniquely our own. Events like this are a reminder that healing, connection, and self-expression come in many forms.

Our Arts Program is so much more than making art. It’s about creating safer spaces where people can build trust, reduce isolation, express themselves, and connect with supportive services at their own pace. These moments of creativity are an essential part of harm reduction because they center dignity, joy, and community.

Thank you to the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund and everyone who joined us to make the day so colorful. We can’t wait to see everyone rocking their one-of-a-kind creations! 💙🎨🌳

Celebrating the Puerto Rican Day Parade, we find ourselves thinking about our very own Joyce Rivera—a Puerto Rican visionary whose leadership helped and continues to help build one of the most enduring harm reduction movements in the United States.

As founder of St. Ann’s Corner of Harm Reduction, Joyce understood that real change doesn’t begin with judgment. It begins with people. With meeting neighbors where they are. With showing up day after day with dignity, respect, and what she modeled best: daily doses of empathy.

The roots of harm reduction in New York are deeply connected to Puerto Rican communities that faced the devastating impacts of HIV, overdose, poverty, and criminalization—and responded not by turning away, but by organizing, caring, and fighting for one another.
As Puerto Rican flags fill the streets of NYC, we honor a legacy that reminds us that compassion is a practice, community is a form of survival, and empathy can be a life-saving intervention 🇵🇷

The coalition of racist privileged grifters have a lot to answer for when their monetized crusade comes to a dwindling profit over costs.

Immigrant detainees have told courts across the nation that detention officials have failed to treat or stabilize their conditions, from pregnancy to prostate cancer, suggesting that systemic lapses in care extend well beyond record deaths in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
