From one of my student's observation report: A CO-TEACHING STRATEGY.
Ms. P stands at the front of the door with a big smile and greets the students as they walk in. Ms. T is in the middle of the room welcoming the students into class and reminding them of their arrival expectations. “Good morning bright students! Please go to your desk, unpack your materials, and hang up your coat."
Both teachers start the day positively and the students “show” that they know exactly what is expected. It is an effective strategic idea to have one teacher at the door and one teacher in the middle of classroom so that any negative behaviors can be diminished immediately.
There is no room for acting out. The kids receive two welcomes and a reminder of what to do. The students then pull out their zip lock bag from their desks and choose one book to read until the announcements are made.
