Dr. Laura Venuto, Psychologist, PLLC The purpose of this page is to provide basic information regarding my private practice, promote awareness of mental health issues and share information.

Dr. Laura Venuto, Psychologist, PLLC is a page where people can find information regarding my private practice, as well as learn more about mental health issues and learning disabilities. At the present time, I am focusing on conducting psychological assessments for adults and children. I conduct IQ testing, typically in the context of a comprehensive assessment, but stand alone IQ testing can be

conducted when required for school admission purposes. In addition, I can assess for challenges with attention, learning disabilities, and/or to clarify difficulties related to mood or behavior. Psychological assessment can also identify giftedness and elucidate strengths and weaknesses so that individuals can live up to their full potential cognitively, academically, socially and/or professionally.

A little wobbling, a lot of laughing, and zero scrolling.
The Global Day of Unplugging isn’t about perfection or ditching technology forever—it’s a reminder that we can build small pauses into everyday life. Sometimes the best moments happen when the phones stay in our pockets.

A little late in posting this video, but last Thursday (2/19) I had the opportunity to testify in Trenton regarding the New Jersey Kids Code Act and additional proposed legislation aimed at protecting children online.

As both a clinical psychologist and co-founder of Dodgers Delay, I spend a lot of time thinking about how digital environments are shaping children’s development — often in ways that families and educators never consented to and don’t fully see.

Kids are navigating platforms that are intentionally designed to maximize engagement, not wellbeing. And while parents can (and should) set boundaries at home, we cannot regulate our way out of a system that is built to keep children scrolling.

This is why policy matters.

Creating safer digital spaces for children shouldn’t fall entirely on individual families. It requires thoughtful legislation that considers developmental science, not just technological innovation.

Grateful for the opportunity to lend my voice — and hopeful that we continue moving toward environments that support healthy childhood development both online and offline. Thank you for the invitation to support this vital work.

I attended a moving event in Morristown, NJ today. I’m heartbroken by the survivor stories and moved by the students who spoke about the trauma they have endured during lockdown drills. It’s not political to want to be safe when you run to the store for some milk. There are events all weekend. Go to www.wearorange.org to find one near you.

Some of my earliest childhood memories involve watching my mother’s involvement in the peace movement. She went to rallies and vigils, helped produce a show on our local PBS station and met with representatives in DC to promote nuclear disarmament. There’s no better way for me to honor her this weekend as well as all Buffalonians on the anniversary of the Tops shooting by staying committed to the biggest current threat to our freedom and safety, lax gun laws. As a psychologist, I strive to do more than to help my clients “cope” with this sickening reality and truly believe if we work together, we can live in a more peaceful and safe society.

In honor of Mother’s Day, we’re looking for . This week, Call your reps in honor of a mom you love and ask for common sense gun laws. Specifically, background checks on all gun sales and a National ban on assault weapons. Last time there was a National assault weapons ban, mass shootings were 70% less likely to occur. Vote out fools who are in bed with the NRA and threatening the safety of our loved ones. If you need a calling script, text me, DM and or check out or .

Today, I attended a bereaved Mother’s Day rally organized by with one of my OG mom friends, . This is not a political issue. It’s about our ability to be safe and free in our communities. It doesn’t take much time to participate in this powerful movement that is taking on the gun lobby across America. Today, we rallied for a national assault weapons ban. We heard a powerful speech by a gun violence survivor who is alive today only because her attacker did NOT have an assault weapon and needed to reload his gun. DM me for more ways to get involved.

Today, we parted ways with our beloved stroller. As a city parent who never owned a car, when my parents gifted us this 8 years ago, I affectionately referred to it as “my first car.” I won’t forget the countless adventures this stroller was a part of, groceries it carried and snow piles it plowed through on the streets of NYC. It’s truly the end of an era for us as parents. Farewell, old friend!

I finally had the opportunity to watch Aftershock, the compelling and heart-wrenching documentary about the racial disparities in maternal healthcare in the United States. Black and brown women, even when they advocate for themselves are too often ignored by their medical providers. This film highlighted so many serious flaws in our healthcare system, most importantly how systemic racism results in substandard medical care for women of color. I urge all medical providers to take the time to watch this documentary available on Hulu to learn more about this epidemic and help bring an end to it.
