The better question to ask yourself isn’t what you said.
It’s: what has my child watched happen around food?
What have they seen me behaviorally, energetically, non-verbally do?
Because your child is paying attention either way.
A lot of parents assume the kid at the table is locked in on the food. She’s not. She’s watching how you’re behaving and relating and reacting toward it.
Words matter. I’m not saying they don’t.
I just don’t think they’re the most important vehicle for the lesson.
