Yesterday, our auditorium was filled with joy as we celebrated Nancy Medina, recipient of LeadingAge New York’s 2026 Employee of Distinction Award.

For more than 20 years, Nancy has devoted her career to serving others. As our Discharge Planning Coordinator, she brings extraordinary expertise and compassion to patients and families during times when they need it most.

We were honored to be joined by LeadingAge New York President and CEO Sebrina Barrett and Assemblymember Al Taylor, who helped us recognize Nancy’s remarkable contributions. Nancy was also presented with proclamations from Assemblymember Taylor, the New York State Senate, and the Assembly honoring her service to older New Yorkers and the healthcare community. Nancy, your dedication has touched countless lives. We could not be prouder to call you our colleague. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

On Wednesday, our Adult Day Health Care clients, staff, and SkillSpring participants were proud to join State Senator Cordell Cleare's 5th Annual Senior Citizens Day in Harlem.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local seniors, share resources, and meet with Senator Cleare and Assemblyman Al Taylor. We also celebrated Governor Kathy Hochul's signing of legislation co-sponsored by Senator Cleare that expands access to services to New Yorkers with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, and their caregivers and families through NY Connects: Choices for Long Term Care.

It was an exciting week at The New Jewish Home! 🎉

Bingo on Wednesday was as lively as ever — competitive spirits, great company, and a few lucky winners walked away with prizes!

We also had our Sutro 4 BBQ, chair yoga on Thursday, and a music performance with Alla — where residents got to sing along and revisit the songs that mean the most to them.

A great week made even better by the residents, volunteers, and staff who make it all happen. 💛

Last Thursday, we celebrated 45 graduates of SkillSpring’s first-ever CRED (Community Resources for Employment and Development) training program, offered in partnership with the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development.

This was also our first SkillSpring cohort to include adult learners, with participants ranging in age from 19 to 39. Over six weeks of hands-on training, they built new skills and gained valuable experience, and took important steps toward rewarding careers in health care.

We're especially excited that 12 graduates will be joining The New Jewish Home as Certified Nursing Assistants, bringing their compassion and dedication to our residents.

Congratulations to all of our graduates—and a special thank you to Senior Director Nicole Cash, Associate Director Alita Maristany and their team for their leadership, passion, and commitment to making SkillSpring a success!
