Did you know? A Lone Star tick bite can lead to more than just Alpha-gal Syndrome (red meat allergy).
These ticks may also be associated with illnesses such as:
✔️ STARI (Southern Tick-Associated Rash Illness) – Often causes a red, expanding “bull’s-eye” rash and flu-like symptoms.
✔️ Ehrlichiosis – Symptoms may include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, and muscle aches.
✔️ Tularemia – A bacterial infection that can cause a skin ulcer at the bite site, swollen lymph nodes, fever, and other symptoms.
Tick bite prevention tips:
• Wear long sleeves and pants when outdoors.
• Use an EPA-registered insect repellent.
• Perform thorough tick checks after spending time outside.
• Remove attached ticks promptly with fine-tipped tweezers.
If you develop a rash, fever, or other symptoms after a tick bite, seek medical evaluation promptly. Early diagnosis and treatment can make a significant difference.
