Peer Minds was proud to participate in the SIEDC Health & Wellness Expo last week, joining hundreds of organizations, service providers, and community leaders working to strengthen the wellbeing of Staten Island.

Throughout the day, we connected with local hospitals, mental health programs, social service organizations, peer advocates, and community-focused businesses. These conversations reinforced the importance of culturally grounded mental health support and highlighted opportunities for meaningful collaboration across the borough.

We were grateful to connect with representatives from:

• And many others dedicated to community health and empowerment.

As Peer Minds continues to expand its peer-led mental wellness programs for MENASA youth and young adults, we look forward to building on these relationships and exploring new ways to support the communities we serve.

Thank you, , for bringing so many impactful organizations together.

🌸 Women’s Wellness Circle | Final Week (Week 6): Women’s Physical Health

We’re closing our first ever round of the Women’s Wellness Circle with a conversation many of us grew up avoiding — women’s physical health and all the silence, shame, and expectations that come with it.

From reproductive health to chronic illness, from access barriers to the pressure to “endure,” our bodies carry stories that deserve to be heard, honored, and understood. 💗

This week, we’re connecting mind and body, breaking the silence around women’s health, and exploring what it truly means to care for our bodies in ways that feel empowering, informed, and culturally safe. 🌿

🔥 Mindful Men Circle | Week 6: Breaking the Cycle – Addiction, Trauma & Healing

We’re closing this round of the Mindful Men Circle with one of the most important conversations yet — how trauma, violence, and addiction feed each other, and how we begin to heal.

For too many men, pain turns into silence… silence turns into coping… and coping becomes survival. But real strength is learning to recognize the cycle — and choosing to break it.

This week, we’ll talk openly about how trauma shows up in everyday life, how to build healthier ways of coping, and how we can support one another in creating new patterns of healing.

This isn’t just a discussion — it’s a reminder that we’re not defined by what hurt us, but by what we do next.

🌿 Women’s Wellness Circle | Week 5: Identity, Belonging & Heritage

For so many of us, “home” lives in two worlds — the one we come from and the one we’re still learning to belong to.

This week, we’re opening up conversations around identity, belonging, and the immigrant experience — what it means to carry multiple cultures, expectations, and dreams while trying to stay true to ourselves.

We’ll explore the stories that shaped us — the sacrifices of migration, the pressure to fit in, and the beauty of dual identity — while honoring the women before us who made belonging possible. 💗

Because identity isn’t about choosing between worlds — it’s about learning to live fully in both. 🌸

💪 Mindful Men Circle | Week 5: Mind & Body – The Connection Between Mental and Physical Health

Our minds and bodies are always talking — we’ve just learned to ignore the conversation.

This week, we’re exploring how stress, trauma, and emotions affect our physical health — and how taking care of our bodies can strengthen our mental well-being. From sleepless nights and tension we carry in our shoulders to the weight of unspoken pain, this conversation gets real about what it means to be well — inside and out. 🌙

Join us for an interactive discussion on building healthier routines, reclaiming balance, and understanding the link between how we feel and how we function.

🌸 Women’s Wellness Circle | Week 4: Marriage, Divorce & Family Roles

Love, faith, family, and choice — for many women in our communities, these aren’t just personal experiences, they’re expectations.

This week, we’re creating space to talk about the stories we grew up with — about what it means to be a “good daughter,” a good wife, or a good mother” — and how those ideas shape our relationships, our independence, and the way we see ourselves.

We’ll explore the expectations placed on women in marriage, the stigma around divorce, and the pressure to carry family honor — while also reimagining what healthy love, motherhood, and family can truly look like. 🌿

Because growth doesn’t mean rejecting where we come from — it means learning to love ourselves within it. 💗

🕊️ Mindful Men Circle | Week 4: Navigating Loss, Su***de & Grief

This week, we’re holding space for one of the most difficult—and most needed—conversations: how men experience loss, su***de, and grief.

Too often, men are told to be strong in silence. But silence doesn’t heal — connection does. This session will be deeply interactive, honest, and grounded in faith, culture, and shared experience. Together, we’ll explore what it means to face pain, loss, or suicidal thoughts with courage and compassion — and how we can show up for ourselves and one another through it all.

This isn’t about fixing. It’s about understanding, feeling, and healing — together.

💗 Women’s Wellness Circle | Week 3: Suicidal Ideation & Crisis

This week, we’re holding space for one of the hardest—but most necessary—conversations.

In our communities, su***de is often met with silence, shame, and fear of “what will people say.” But silence doesn’t protect us—it isolates us.

Together, we’ll talk about recognizing the warning signs, understanding risk factors, and creating spaces where it’s safe to be honest about pain—and to reach for help.

Healing begins when we choose compassion over silence.
