I’ve so enjoyed learning with .desais0n about territory based education practices in Ecuador’s Cloud Forest, where she’s rooted. From New York, I’ve been thinking about this work as in action, and we presented at an international group in Italy last week in anticipation of another share in Mexico this fall. Crossing so many borders is fitting for this work.

Schizocartography refers to the process of personal map making that helps individuals narrate identity in relationship to diverse places, histories, and identities carried within. This seems more and more relevant when totalizing narratives try to separate people from place or tell us we’re all the same and place isn’t important. In fact, more and more, we carry with us multiple places and fragmented aspects of identity. Finding ways to name and integrate the multiplicity of identity is a powerful way to resist.

The only singular narrative is the one each person writes for themselves.

Everyone praying for the to come back to earth and ty keep it up someone is listening 🙏🏼✨

Have you read Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical on ?

This intro is full of — care for the equal treatment of all through deep personal narratives and unity through diversity, never domination; understanding the causes of oppression and working to uproot it.

Language and technology will never be true equalizers if they try and take away difference. However, they can be tools of human and ecological connection if they are used to unite us in our differences. Here we have a choice.

My last headshots were pre- so many things: a global pandemic, a haircut!, 40! (and then 45), finding and loving a home in the Hudson Valley and then learning to say goodbye to it, and becoming an advocate for survivors of s/x and gender based veyelence — first and foremost by writing my own story of survival.

Now I’ve welcomed more curves and lines to announce that I intend to stick around on this earth for a long time to come, with a ravenous love and a fierce drive to bring out our stories from all their hidden corners.

I tell my stories, so you can tell yours. ✨

So much gratitude to for this 📷 and a few more photos to show you me now.

I’m curating this one with a great group of other editors and looking for diverse and interdisciplinary submissions. You don’t have to be a psychoanalyst to submit, but submissions should use psychoanalytic concepts to explore the topic, or trouble existing psychoanalytic notions!

Feel free to pitch an idea to me or submit a complete piece. Submissions direct to [email protected]

with so much gratitude for who just had new baby day but before that insisted on drawing out my vision for a commuter and then building her for me. This is one shout out to all those who are q***ring fatherhood, undoing patriarchy in real time, and making new ways to love and share joy on this beautiful earth. Thank you 🙏🏼☺️💗

This vintage “tre cime” frame may not summit many mountains but marks a return to the true pleasures of getting untethered from fossil fuels, navigating this urban territory to remember that it can never be fully ‘developed’ away from its physicality, slowness with friends, and beauty.

In the building process and I talked psychology + bikes, which always makes me think of learning to ride as an adult by matching the cadence and the wheel of skilled riders in front of me.

Drafting, calibrating, attuning, all symbols for attachment.

Just finished The Dry Season by with no reference to menopause, unless you mean “Men? Oh… Pause!” Then yes. Lots of that.

Febos is q***r but not immune from the male gaze or internalized definitions of relationship as one’s lovability, detached from one’s own desire.

I enjoyed this book even more than I thought I would, particularly because it is an invitation to re-acquaint with desire, with desire for the infinite above all else, and therefore with an archetype of sacred partnership that miraculously still lives in each of us if we slow down long enough to see it.

Maybe you are using an abundance of caution in relationships these days, what with the increased visibility of the atrocities of so many men against their partners and children. This book is a good one to pick up if so, if you’re longing for love but bereft of where to find it.

Drawing on her addiction recovery and intimate knowledge of psychoanalysis, Febos also challenges readers to take stock of where we unconsciously repeat harm in our own attractions.

A pause may be the most reinvigorating path to pleasure.

“I had made choices in love based on how I ‘felt,’ and sometimes a feeling is simply the twitch of an inherited belief, the belief that my worth was contingent on my lovability. I needed to replace those tendencies… My resistance [to those inherited tendencies], however small — be it three months of celibacy, a pair of sneakers, the ability to tolerate a partner’s disappointment or to interrupt s/x I wasn’t enjoying — undermined that influence. Every act of resistance restored my own will.”

As I get older and the daily harms against children, women, the earth, and all but a tiny fraction of beings just keep adding up, my rage grows and grows. 🗡️🗡️

And yet there is a deeper return beyond rage, to the primacy of love, to the source ❤️‍🔥 If there is anger it always lives in the context of how far from this source we have been taken.

Rage is not a primary emotion but one that is secondary to love and its absence.

Return, return, return. 🌀

I’ve been dealing with the fact that my father died last month, but my grief is not what you might expect. It has been more of a ✨🛟 rescue mission 🛟✨ for the little girl in me who did not believe she could survive his cruelty.

Spoiler alert: she did. 🐚 Even if it required leaving her behind for decades, flying off to as many sacred and beautiful places as possible in order to see that the world is also good. Becoming at times too intellectual, just to understand what the h** is going on around here.

I’ve been taking in the medicines of Northern California, hiking miles and bathing in hot springs, reuniting 〰️〰️ the multiple selves that get to live together in this one body.

I just want to tell you this: The soul can dream its way out of some of the most terrible situations, even if it takes a lifetime.
