This Is What Chinese Medicine Eats in Summer

Silk melon is a beloved seasonal vegetable known for helping the body stay cool, hydrated, and balanced during the hottest months of the year.

Simple, nourishing, and cooked fresh is just the way nature intended.

In Chinese medicine and Asian cooking, we hydrate and cool down with our foods— not with iced drinks or raw salads but with foods that hold cooking and hydrating essences.

Have you ever tried silk melon?

In Chinese Medicine, Summer is ruled by the Heart. One of the simplest ways to support your Heart energy is through nature’s red herbs. Red is the color of the Heart and red supports the Heart and Small Intestine organ system.

❤️❤️❤️Comment RED below and I will send you a link to the following herbs:

🍒 SCHISANDRA
Known as the “five-flavor berry,” Schisandra helps calm a restless mind while preserving your body’s precious energy. If you feel scattered, overstimulated, or emotionally drained, Schisandra helps gather your energy back inward and supports a calm, focused Heart.

🫐 GOJI BERRY
Goji berries are one of Chinese medicine’s most treasured longevity foods. Rich in antioxidants, they nourish the Blood, support healthy circulation, and help protect the Heart while also benefiting the eyes, Liver, and overall vitality.

🍎 HAWTHORN
Hawthorn has been used for centuries as one of the premier herbs for cardiovascular health. It supports healthy circulation, helps the body process rich foods, and keeps blood moving smoothly, making it a favorite herb for both the Heart and digestion.

🌹 RED DATES
Red dates are trending for a reason. Traditionally used to nourish the Blood and calm the Shen (Spirit), they help support deeper sleep, menstruation, emotional balance, and a more resilient nervous system during the busy energy of Summer.

❤️ In Chinese Medicine, red foods resonate with the Heart. As the days grow longer and warmer, these herbs offer gentle support for circulation, vitality, emotional wellbeing, and the Spirit.

Summer is the height of Yang energy and winter is the time of Yin. Whatever the weather, we can use it to our advantage to heal when we connect to its energy.

When the weather is warm, Yang energy is present in the environment. Yang energy is the fuel that makes our body run, it is our internal sun. For proper digestion, it must always burn bright and strong. Ginger is one of the best foods, if not the best, for producing Yang.

A healthy body has enough Yang to push out toxins, digest well, power the immune system and run smoothly. Unfortunately, in our modern world, many of us are deficient in this essence, resulting in symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, slow digestion, weight gain, painful periods, and cold hands and feet.

In the Summer, travel, late nights, cold drinks, and raw foods can easily deplete our Yang. Having ginger on hand helps with sudden “bug” like feelings, nausea, indigestion and travel imbalances.

🌞 Comment JET and I will send you a direct link to my “Travel Immunity Bundle” featuring my Ginger Extract and Qi, two of my best sellers and the two items I always carry with me. You can use them both internally and externally. If your Stomach or feet are cold for example, you can rub Ginger Extract on it. If you have a bug bite, try a drop of Qi on the area.

If the body has enough Yang from resting well (going to bed early), eating well and not consuming too many cold foods and drinks, the internal and external (atmosphere) can work together to expel toxins and naturally detox, removing dampness and pathogens more deeply in the summer. This translates into a healthy Fall and Winter.
